Hi Friends, thanks for the help. The tech who came simply removed the float valve. The skimmer is now working. Should I be concerned about replacing the float valve?

I believe the white thing on the left is the thing that adjusts the pool level. At the right edge of the picture is the skimmer. Ignore my irrigation project on the left :geek:

sounds like I should add water to the pool and see if that helps? am I reading this wrong?

Yes, I'm worried about breaking it. I've called in the issue to the home warranty hoping that if the tech they send out breaks it, it will continue to be covered in the warranty. meanwhile, I'm going to try power washing around it and pulling on it again. Sounds like I'm not going to know...

there is definitely both a gasket and dirt. it's a little crooked - one side higher than the other. Here's a pic of the inside of the lid: no serial/model number. :( We haven't done any repairs - just moved in December 2020 and haven't done a thing. There was a big wind storm around the time...

Yes, the skimmer basket sits on top of the spaceship. Due to the lack of suction, there's actually a rock in the bottom of the basket to get it to stay in place. It's an ordinary basket, so the picture must distort it a bit.

when I turn the valve to the skimmer side, there's a little water movement, but still zero suction. tried to upload a video, but sadly, it looks like that doesn't work

a pressure washer is a good idea. I needed to haul mine out for a different project anyway. James - interesting thought!! once I have a "clear hole," what would be my nest step?
