If your pump is running all that time, it is mixing the water!!! Spraying water into air can really cause water temps to drop. There are cooling systems that force air through spraying or falling cool water to cool the air!!! Pretty neat what we can do with nature huh?

Don't call a pool store, they will rip you off and you CAN do this by yourself. Get some pvc cement, and some fittings (ball valves are expensive, but worth every penny.) make sure you seal up your return so no water leaves the pool in a hurry. I am not sure where you are at, but if you post...

From what you are telling me it should not be doing what it is doing, but it is. I just drew from solar hot water panels which are laid out very similar to what I did (not coils though). I get 4-6 degrees of water rise every sunny day. Now that I put in a solar cover, I get an extra 1-2 degrees...

Way too much money to spend to heat a pool with solar. Might as well just find a good pond and drive there to swim. :hammer:

Not sure where you are coming up with your numbers, but as far as solar hot water is concerned it is way cheaper than conventional methods. ROI is usually within 2 years. Then it is usually just maintenance. As for Photovoltaics, they are steadily decreasing in price. I just saw the other day...
