Thank You to the TFP Community

To those of you just getting started reading this site- stick with it. It's like drinking from a fire hose, but it's worth it. I started reading TFP 2 years ago before we closed on our current house. When we purchased the house, we made the decision to continue using the pool service that was...

    My Stenner Install

Thought I'd follow up up on the clicking. I swear that the volume of the clicking has declined significantly. Either that or I've gotten used to it. I absolutely love the flexibility of the variable speed adjusting the setting by just twisting the dial. I would easily do it again. If the...

Stenner - Tubing connection at drum

I over-engineered my connection and I knew it when I went to home depot for plumbing fittings. I used the same tank. The smaller opening in the tank is compatible with 3/4" PVC pipe thread. I installed a stem on that threaded connection that went up to a T. I capped off the top of the T and...

    My Stenner Install

You need the pump and a chemical tank. Stenner sells a tank, or you can do a separate tank. I chose to use a 15 gallon uline plastic drum you see in the photo above. I shamelessly copied the install from someone else here- I don't recall who it was but it works great. I believe the...

    My Stenner Install

Reporting back. The clicking is a little annoying. I really like that I can make adjustments to the chlorine dosing by turning the dial, but if we happen to be outside I don't like it. It's setup to run today for 2.5 hrs on a setting of 5. I'll probably adjust it to running for a shorter...

    My Stenner Install

I hadn't thought of the clicking becoming annoying. I'll report back if it becomes a problem. The clicking is at about the same level as our pool pump (fairly loud single speed 2 HP pump), and we're generally on the opposite side of the pool from the pool equipment, and if the pool is running...

yet another stenner install and timer system

Very nice. I like that you put the stenner pump inside. We don't winterize pools in TX so that would be great down here. Unfortunately the other side of the wall where my pool equipment is located is my master bedroom. I don't think my wife would go for that. Would the level of the stenner...

    My Stenner Install

Pool is in the neighborhood of 30k gallons. I purchased a variable stenner pump and I have it turned down to 6 GPD at this point. The timer is done via a computer controlled light switch. It's easy to adjust the timing, but I have programmed a number of back-up off commands in case I loose...

    My Stenner Install

Completed the install last weekend. I cut in a 2" T fitting with a 1/2" threaded bushing for the Stenner. Piece of cake- took about 10 minutes. I put some teflon tape on the check valve threads for good measure. Not sure it's necessary but it's nice to have that security. If you're...

    Test Results after Water Replacement

No- the only thing I've added to the pool is chlorine. Need to do some research on sequestrant. Seems a little odd to me that I'd have high metals given the amount of water I just replaced unless the fill water has high metals. I suppose it's possible that the pool guy added that much...

    Test Results after Water Replacement

I tested the water last night before bed and determined that I needed one more jug to raise the FC to 35. 7 total- wow. Pool passed the overnight loss test. CC was zero last night and this morning. Water is clear. It looks a little bluer than yesterday, although it's sunny this morning...

    Test Results after Water Replacement

Any reason? I have a pool guy... he dumped some **** into the pool a couple weeks ago before I had adopted the BBB method. I don't have a clue what it was, and conversation with the pool service is coming tomorrow. If they're not willing to supply my stenner pump tank with liquid chlorine...

    Test Results after Water Replacement

I performed a FAS/DPD test about an hour after I added 1 gallon of 10% bleach. I expected a FC rise to 10.5 based on a 35K gallon pool. I actually saw a FC of 11.5 which is more inline with a 26-27K gallon pool, which means a SLAM will take less bleach. CC was still 0. Water looks better...
