    Pool pump recommendation needed

Short story is that a new pool pump is needed for an inground pool. Pool is in-ground, about 22000 gallons. There are 2 intakes (skimmer and deep end floor drain), and two returns (1 15 feet from pump location and he other about 40 feet away). There is also a DE filter and may add a heater...

It does what? Is this possible

Ahhh, subtraction by addition (or non-addition). :p Must be the same group that manages the national debt. Thanks for the responses.

It does what? Is this possible

I have not been on the forum for awhile, but I seem to recall CYA (cyanuric acid) stays in the pool. I always had trouble raising CYA levels, but I doubt the physics have changed much in the last few years. Any comments? Thanks...

    SWG Experience - Highly recommend

Finally got my little SWG hooked up last season and wanted to share my experiences. Background: Purchased a second home in June 2011 which had a badly neglected in-ground pool (details posted elsewhere on TFP). Spent the first two months "cleaning" the pool, before closing the pool two...

    is my vacuum adding algae?

I would agree with Dave. My pool is always cloudy after vacuuming, but once the dust settles it is clear again

After Vacuuming, filter shoots dirt back into pool

I don't know that I have the answer, as I still have dirt clouds in my pool after a few years of struggle. I have tried a lot of things, adding DE to the filter, attaching a sock to the return, and they all seem to help to varying degrees. The quickest suggestion I tried, was vacuuming the...

best time of day to test: new pool setup

I would suggest running SWG overnight. This could help "cool" the water and is less likely to interfere with normal pool use. I like to test late in the evening (unless I am fighting algea or preparing for a party), as this is when I would expect FC to be at its lowest levels.

    Think My SWG is Dying

Could the salt level be too high? I know my SWG has an indicator for salt too low and one for salt too high. 4200 seems awfully high.

New to pools need help fast

That's odd. A web search indicates a place called Lancaster's would do it. Have you tired them? Best of luck.

New to the Fourm ! But have a major issue with my pool !

Re: New to the Fourm ! But have a major issue with my pool Sounds like a rather large leak. You paint a good visual, but I think pictures would help track down the issue. I would start with pictures of the main drain and any other entry and exit points. Surely, one of the trained eyes...

    used hayward DE 7220

Jason, Not sure. I really had trouble getting a handle on the pressure rise due to faulty guages. The water has been fairly clear at times. I have always had dirt / fine black dust (not sure what it is exactly) in varying quantities. The more I filter and pool vac, the less it is. Cannot...

    3rd pool season

Ah good post on the CC lesson. I did not realize the difference. I thought all FC usage (other than UV) would cause CC. In the past algea and CC have gone hand-in-hand for me,. Good to know I am waging only *ONE* battle the year (chlorine-wise anyway)..

    3rd pool season

True. The pH shift is the least puzzling of the shifts. It is still strange, as the only adds to the pool were rain water (which is typically acidic).. Any ideas were the TA went? it was at 70-80 4 months ago. I thought TA and CYA were supposed to hold pretty stable levels expect through...
