    New SWCG installation chemistry question

Moving away from chemistry, would I be making a mistake by plumbing the flow switch directly into the outlet of the SWG? Or is it supposed to be a minimum distance away from it? No mention of that in the instructions, just a diagram that shows it plumbed after the SWG.

    New SWCG installation chemistry question

I'm glad I asked, I would have thought the readings would get worse as the water warmed. Chilly water down here in Tampa probably means something different than it does to folks up north, right now my pool's at 78°, in the summer I don't complain if it creeps into the low 90s.

    New SWCG installation chemistry question

Yeah that jumped out at me too! Oh it's an El cheapo (off eBay no less...), US Xtremepower, item 90151, 90152, or 90153. It's a 40,000 gallon unit, and I really don't see anywhere it states which model. I know I'm rolling the dice here a bit, I've had a couple of pumps with the same label...

10ml, as per the TFTestkits instructions. Thanks for asking Jim.

    New SWCG installation chemistry question

OK great, liking those responses, thank you both! How badly does warmer water skew the test results? I do tend to keep mine warm with the solar heater and a cover.

    New SWCG installation chemistry question

All set to install this thing, haven't done anything to the water but test it. Just got my fancy new, upgraded Pro salt test kit, it took 17 drops to turn the salt test milky red. With 3400ppm do I need to add salt? Manufacturer's range is 1700ppm - 4500ppm, says it stops generating once it's...

Found this: Toggle for $92. Wondering if I'd be better off just getting one of these: Hayward $135 Intermatic $120

Well looks like it's not the switches, and I did put them in. Seems that water pooled at the bottom of the housing by the toggle switch and soaked the circuit board. I used some MAF sensor cleaner and a little brass brush and cleaned it up (this is the before pic...), same symptoms, it spun...

Got the switches from Mouser today, and Pentair customer service responded on Monday, 9 days after I emailed them (to be fair that's only 5 work days assuming a 3-day July 4th weekend). We established it's not registered and out of warranty (1 years for the actuator, 3 for the controller)...

Understood, I won't. Just ordered 6 switches - I can't let myself spend more on shipping than the actual products I'm buying..., but not complaining about $8 to UPS to have them here by Wednesday.

Great link, looks like the info I need should be right there. Doubt it's under warranty, I've had it for at least 4 years. I'll take it apart and hopefully just find switches that need replacing. Thanks again.

Thx for the reply Allen, I've been flipping the switch plenty, that's how I've been able to keep using it - I get it spinning until it's where I want it and put the toggle in the middle so it doesn't move. Actuator P/N 263045, S/N 1245045170070A Haven't taken it apart yet, I emailed Pentair...

The 3-way actuator has been turning the valve the wrong way - down, across the inlet port, rather than up and opposite the inlet port. It also stops at almost 45* angles, blocking some of the inlet. I've turned off the breaker to reset it several times, it'll work properly for awhile then I see...
