Wildfire smoke — effect on pool chemistry?

Not sure if you’ve seen/smelled this yet but up here on certain days the airs been like burning plastic or turpintine. Apparently the longer the smoke sits in the air and is exposed to UV radiation it changes the composition. I read a report that said: The VOC’s from the wildfire smoke...

Wildfire smoke — effect on pool chemistry?

I’m currently in day 5 of a SLAM… would algaecide be helpful post SLAM to ward off any other similar to this rest of year?

Wildfire smoke — effect on pool chemistry?

Just a side note: these fires are 1600km (1000mi) north of Toronto in the sub-arctic by Hudson Bay.There is nothing but wilderness up there. The issue is getting the needed equipment there to fight these extremely remote yet massive fires. It’s not like we’re enjoying it either… (just saying)

Wildfire smoke — effect on pool chemistry?

I was wondering this lately… We’re in Southern Ontario and the smoke from the fires in Quebec the last few weeks has been bad. We also had a cloudy algae issue last week (around same time smoke was really bad) that I’ve been SLAMing for about a week now… My question was if any of the water...

Rusting pool ladder — bonding issue? How to check?

Ok… so you’re not sure how to test for correct bonding? Should I be asking in a different section? Also, I just checked and the bonding wire meeting CEC spec: Rule 68-058 establishes requirements for an equipotential bonding plane for the metal parts of a pool and associated metal parts of...

Rusting pool ladder — bonding issue? How to check?

Yeah, I don’t know how to change that. Do you know if the test method I mentioned would work to confirm if bonded?

Rusting pool ladder — bonding issue? How to check?

Don’t think the NEC guidelines apply in Canada, would need to see what CEC code is… the pool is 20 years old, and install by a very reputable installer so would think they followed all guidelines.

Rusting pool ladder — bonding issue? How to check?

Not home currently, It’s not a solid wire. It’s a large gauge (prob 6 gauge) solid/braided copper wire. Likely 7 wires strands twisted together.I can get pics later.

Rusting pool ladder — bonding issue? How to check?

Yeah, I know the large gauge braided copper line. So would the correct test method be to have a very long wire attached/clipped to the braided copper line and run that all the way to the ladder area where I can connect that wire to a lead on the meter and the lead to the ladder mounting socket...

Rusting pool ladder — bonding issue? How to check?

Hey everyone, We had an issue with a new pool ladder rusting up very quickly (month) to the point where it was about the same as the original (15 year old) one it replaced. Brought it back as the pool store guaranteed it would be good for salt water application. Had manufacturer replace the...

    SLAM-ing question

So... This was an odd one. But I think I found the culprit of my mysterious CC values. I couldn't figure out how I could possibly be getting 2-3 CC values after having the FC at SLAM level for so long... At the start of the year I bought some new DPD powder for the test kit. But was going to...
