Pump/ strainer basket housing does not fill with water, endlessly draining to the skimmer pipe line.

Having the air bleed open won't matter. That pump looks shot. I'd replace it with a Hayward Maxflo VS pump. You have copper plumbing, I wouldn't use the Intelliflo or any other 2.7 or 3HP pump. It's over doing it. You have to be easy on the old copper lines if you want them to last. Your system...

Pump/ strainer basket housing does not fill with water, endlessly draining to the skimmer pipe line.

I would also suspect the Oring and/or lid is cracked. Next I would suspect that copper to pvc adapter I see in the picture. Those have an Oring and will create a vacuum leak when they go bad. Lastly I would say your copper plumbing is beginning to fail and has pinhole leaks on the inlet side...

Need help selecting a new pump

True you program the speed on the pump interface. But you would be doing it manually for the features. Turning the waterfall on you'll choose the speed you want, for spa you choose a speed. You can set a high speed schedule for cleaning and medium for filtering but those are the only automated...

    Pump is continuously priming

I have some experience with Omni hubs but haven't seen that issue before. If the lights are coming on and it shows they are on on the app also maybe its programming. If the lights come on, but off on app, maybe the board is energizing the relays or there is some wiring issue in the box. I had...

plumbing advice and install tips for new VS pump - worth upgrading pump from 1.5hp to 2.7hp?

I deal with only pool equipment and use all of the brands. I would get the Jandy pump over the Superflo for sure. I install 1-2 pumps daily and have grown to prefer the Jandy pumps. They are well built and I've never had anyone call me back for any warranty or issues on the pumps or the...

    Pump is continuously priming

I would start with checking your firmware. There was an important update last January. Here's the link In Ground Product Support | Support Center | Hayward Pool Products

Need help selecting a new pump

You'll want the 2.7HP variable speed pumps from either Hayward, Jandy, or Waterway, or the 3HP Pentair for your setup. I would just get the right pump now so you can add automation of your system down the road. You can't set it up exactly how its designed to be used until you have the...

    Upgrade advice (Hayward or Pentair)

Agreed, those things would definitely play a part. It appears though that there is a battery effect with salt pools which erodes the metal. In particular the metal makeup of the Pentair VS pumps seem more prone to this problem. I've read other articles and forums on this issue and what CMP and...

    Upgrade advice (Hayward or Pentair)

Hi I'm not partial to any brand, I use Pentair, Hayward, Jandy, and Waterway. It all depends on the situation and the pool/spa setup. I take in a lot of information before guiding customers on a system that is best for them. I think Pentair is big here because its the most accessible to the...

    Upgrade advice (Hayward or Pentair)

That's just one case and one pool. I do this full time 5-6 days a week. I don't clean pools or offer maintenance. All I do is pool equipment. So I see lots of different situations and I'm telling you the Pentair VS motors will not last with a salt pool. That's not just my opinion. I occasionally...

Possible to use a Pentair Quicktouch on a Jandy Aqualink?

Thanks, I didn't attempt the Quicktouch on the Jandy but I agree I don't think it will communicate with the Pentair board. The spa side hardwired remote wasn't an option in this case because the equipment is in a barage of landscaping thats difficult to get to for Airbnb guests and the spa never...

    Upgrade advice (Hayward or Pentair)

Easy choice, go with the Hayward. But first off, are your solar heating panels on a single story rooftop or two story? You'll need a large VS pump if two story. The Omni will be your solar controller also so it will read the temps and control your solar valve. The superflo vs/vst is a weak pump...
