Hot weather, warm pool water and algae

Thanks for the advice. I just completed a slam and now adjusting CYA level to 50 for better protection with the chlorine. I do have one more question about algecide. Is it ok to put maintenance doses of algaecide in with the bleach or should I rely on bleach only? Thanks for all the help

Hot weather, warm pool water and algae

This is our second year as a BBB believer. Before that is was Baquacil for 4 years, BLAH. Last year being our first year doing BBB we had a large maple tree in the backyard that only let sunlight to the pool from morning to about 2 p.m. This spring we removed the tree and now we have sun on...

Closing Pool up for winter using the BBB method

What is the procedure for closing the pool using the BBB method? This is my first year using the BBB method, what a great summer, so I'm new to closing this way. Also since using the BBB method I don't want to clean out my filter's sand. I'd rather reuse it next summer. So..... do I just drain...

Wanting to convert from Baquacil to Chlorine

Just a quick update. All is going well with the BBB method. Just now getting into the hotter part of summer and the water temp is in the range of 80-84 using the solar cover. My sinus problems have disappeared which means I can enjoy the pool again. The BBB method is pretty simple and easy to...

    Starting conversion tonight!

Good luck with your conversion. I learned through my conversion that you must have patience with each step. I was adding 1jug of bleach each hour sunrise to sunset for the first two days. With a 8600 gallon pool I used about 75 128oz jugs of 6% bleach. Also after your water clears up you still...

Wanting to convert from Baquacil to Chlorine

I figure I will use about 3 128 oz. jugs a week at $3.15 a jug for 18 weeks, mid May to mid September, will be around $230. Then add $20 for borax gets me up to $250 for the season. I'm thinking that when I get the CYA leveled out it may be less bleach. Of course this is baring no problems. This...

Wanting to convert from Baquacil to Chlorine

I took my first swim in the newly converted pool this weekend. As I described earlier when I'd swim in the baquacil it would clog up my sinuses and would be painful. Now with the BBB method I can once again enjoy my pool. This is the best thing I could have done to once again be able to enjoy...

How much bleach are people putting in as a maintenance dose

I have just finished my conversion from Baquacil to BBB. :D I see there are many people that have done this already. I am currently in my week of waiting to check my CYA level so I can balance everything out. I'm curious to see how much bleach people are putting in their pools as a...

Wanting to convert from Baquacil to Chlorine

We had a lot of rain yesterday and more to come in the next few days here in saint Louis. Saturday I put in the stabilizer and waiting one week to test. If I need to drain off water due to rain will that affect my CYA? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
