Pool light install - Ground wire?

Thank you all for the information, I appreciate it. We drained the pool a bit more and was able to get better pictures. I am wondering if that black material is the epoxy and the ground nut is there. Based off what everyone has said, I think I might be okay.

Pool light install - Ground wire?

When running the light cables to the panel, he had issues apparently with the cable fitting. So he removed the ground wire to be able to have the cable fit when running them to the panel. I don’t quite understand the thought or how that would have helped.

Pool light install - Ground wire?

Is what he did okay? Adding the ground wire separately even after cutting it? I’m concerned that the wire covering will erode overtime due to chemicals and expose the wire.
