I have a Bestway (Coleman clone). Liner is fine. Frame I've already had to sand/prime/paint rust spots after just 1 season. For $200, though, you could definitely get a season or two out of it.

Absolutely. That's where I got my pool, INTEX sand filter and pump, and SWG last fall. Saved almost $400 off them combined vs what they are selling for in May or June.

Your steps sound good. I have rock around my pool too, and am seeing rocks kicked up under the edge of the pool. I am concerned that over time these rocks may migrate further under the pool and/or compromise the liner. So, you may want to think of a way to keep your pebbles away from the edge...
