    Pump motor replacement

Final question (I hope) - I just realized the 2.7HP version is the same price, any benefit to getting the larger motor? I assume it'll be cheaper to run, but would this mean I need to swap the impeller in the pump? 2.7hp - Motor, US Motor Neptune, 2.7thp,SQFL, Var-Spd, 230v, 48Y 2.25hp - Nidec...

Thanks! Appreciate that. Is there anything I should get in advance? Any tools, grease or similar I should have that would be obvious to most people?

    Pump motor replacement

Hi All - I'm looking to upgrade the motor on a 2Hp Hayward MaxFlo XL pump to a variable speed pump and after thoroughly confusing myself I'm hoping to get a little confirmation before I pull the trigger on a new motor - manual here...

    Pump Upgrade Options

Hi Chris, Thanks for the reply, and sorry I totally forgot to add photos! I've attached them here - thanks for the thoughts! I think my two primary concerns is to save $$$'s on operating costs, but also to reduce the noise as the current pump is quite loud.

    Pump Upgrade Options

Hi All, I wanted to see if I can get some feedback/advice on the best path for me to upgrade my pump. Currently we have a Hayward Max-Flo II XL 2HP pump that is very noisy and oversized for a 14k gallon pool. We have no features (no heater, water fountain etc) and the pump is on a 4hr per day...

    Pump Upgrade options

oh wow, I didn't realize that. I open the air relief valve in those situations. Everytime I restart after cleaning the filter I bleed off any excess air.

thanks! the equipment is above the pool, the check valve is broken so when I open the filter basket on the pump the water drains from the filter back into the pool, which means when I restart the pump the next time I need to bleed the air from the filter, I assume that's why it was there, but...

The picture if of the filter, but it's not opened, there's no broken lid, that's just the label peeling off the side. Another question - is there any value in the check valve? I'd like to put a flow meter in but don't think there's enough room for both.
