    New liner costs

We just did a new liner for a 17x35' pool with no steps or bench and it was about $5500 plus the water. The liner is 27 mil.

New Liner this fall....how to close?

We just got a new liner this week! Super exciting! Here's my tip. If you are using a hydrant to fill, make sure it is flushed for a long time ahead of your fill or you could get gunk (ie iron flecks and calcium bits) into your brand new water. This happened to us even though they flushed ahead...

managing chemicals with a new liner and new water

That's exactly my question. How much to add. I already called the "manufacturer"- that is the production company. They had no idea if the vinyl needed calcium or not. I did not get the vinyl manufacturer but it sounds like that wouldn't have necessarily helped. I do not have a heater. 200ppm...

managing chemicals with a new liner and new water

I'm all set on the chlorine plan. Looking for guidance on the calcium given there seem to be conflicting views.

managing chemicals with a new liner and new water

Hello, Got the liner in! That went smoothly BUT the water in the deep end looked greyish. Lots of particulates fell to bottom and stuck to the sides, I vacuumed up and it's looking better but not perfect yet. Water looks clear but still vacuuming. The pool test just tested zero for copper and...

And perhaps I better ask in what order shall I balance things? stabilizer then re-check ALK and ph?

It's a fire hydrant that has drinking level water coming through it. I could drink it the city water engineer said. And I should for the price!

managing chemicals with a new liner and new water

We will be filling the entire pool from that hose and it's the same water I will use to top it off throughout the season. I will certainly keep a watch on it.

Ok, thank you. I will do that. The people putting in the liner mentioned they throw in iron out automatically and I said I didn't want it. The hydrant will be flushed beforehand that morning but I will test the iron content and post all my results. Thank you!

Thank you. I usually just balance perfectly and don't use algaecide and close around 10ppm. I have not used any algaecide all summer (or last). I read it isn't necessary is balanced but perhaps you feel over the winter, it's better to use it?

managing chemicals with a new liner and new water

Hello, Our liner is approx 40 years old (!) and we are having it replaced (though holding up still remarkably well!) this week. We are in the Northeast so it's also pool closing time. Since we are getting fresh water from the city fire hydrant (flushed first), once I add stabilizer and balance...

    New liners and calcium addition

Good point. I will explore that ahead of time. My water will be too cold to easily dissolve calcium. What do yo recommend for that, assuming I will need to add some? Dissolve in a bucket of hot water?

    New liners and calcium addition

Hello, I am finally getting a new vinyl pool liner and I'd like to know the current thinking abt whether or not I should add calcium to the new water I will be filling the pool with. I see conflicting old threads on this. thanks.

Guidance sought about a new pump

Yikes, that IS expensive. Our season is short and with the pump I have, I can get by with running it 8-10 hours, though I usually keep it on longer....so I think it would take a long time to make up the energy savings. Other ideas, size?
