We don't need no stinking algae HELP!

I finally beat the algae situation. Besides persistence with the testing I changed the filter elements and that made a dramatic difference. Thanks to all.

We don't need no stinking algae HELP!

I'm using a TF-100 test kit. I'm obviously not great at the CYA test because I just tested it (in the rain) and got a CYA of 50. I'm using liquid bleach.

We don't need no stinking algae HELP!

Thanks for the reply but I'm getting really discouraged. I have the FC at 35 now and will attempt to keep it there. Pool is still really cloudy. I don't have an answer to the CYA question but it must be user error.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will start from scratch tonight and report my findings. I may have to quit my day job just to maintain my pool.

We don't need no stinking algae HELP!

I still need HELP!!! The pool is clearing but only slightly each day. At this rate I may be able to use it in September. I'm not crazy about the Floc technique and looking for a flocking alternative. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We don't need no stinking algae HELP!

Thanks. I have the vacuum sucking up from the deep end now. I'll try your suggestion and give the pump a break tonight and see what happens. I never had this problem before. Could it have been the mild winter?

We don't need no stinking algae HELP!

Opened the pool last week and the only thing missing were the gators. Keep in mind this is Connecticut. Shocked the pool three times and now have an improved milky green color. The chorine level is still high and I've attached some photos. Here are the results of the latest tests Chlorine...

Thanks, JV. So far the water is perfect from a swimming perspective so I think I'll just keep monitoring it.

    Pool Opening Chemestry Question

Looks like I might have blown it although the water is crystal clear. Just couldn't test as frequently as required without quitting my job. I did a full battery of tests today and here are the results. Can someone recommend a course of action? (btw, I just put the swg on boost) Chlorine...

    Pool Opening Chemestry Question

Ok and thanks. I added the borax yesterday and will test the pH hopefully today. If that checks out I'll slam the pool as per the instructions. In anticipation, what's my best course of action if the fc starts falling dramatically?
