    Spa floor return issue

Thank you for the suggestions - I went with a pvc plug so it’s low profile and less likely to stub a toe. Here’s the final solution working after drilling some holes.

    Spa floor return issue

I’ve had a problem plaguing me for the past 6 years. When we moved in there was a hacked together fountain head on top of a long pvc pole in the center return of my spa. This center return drives the spa overflow to create a waterfall when the main pool is in operation. It is a 1.5 inch...

Replacing old 10" and 6" light fixtures

So I ordered up two of the Amerilite 500W housings ($383 each on Amazon - got them in two days - lower wattages were more expensive). Replaced both in less than two hours without incident. Back in business better than ever.

Replacing old 10" and 6" light fixtures

I did not think to replace the gaskets and that's probably what did me in. Going to order up two of the Pentair 50' Amerilite 500W setups, will try an LED bulb for it. Thanks for the tips, very helpful.

Replacing old 10" and 6" light fixtures

I think at least the two 10" need replacing as I replaced the bulbs at the start of last season and they were both dead within 3 months. One of the housings glass looks "darkened" like the bulb exploded or something. Good to know old fashioned is still a viable way - because I don't like the...

Replacing old 10" and 6" light fixtures

Last year I finally got the remainder of my pool pad replaced (new Pentair 4HP VSF pump and Intellicenter). I'm now finally at a point where I need (and can) to replace my light fixtures - I have 2 dead 10" in the main pool and a 6" in the spa that still works - but the chrome ring is looking a...

Replacing a 10 year old Hayward Tristar 3270EE

As an addendum to this, I've been calling around looking for a pump, and all the dealers here are saying if I want a Pentair, I need to have it installed by a dealer or no warranty. Is this something I should get done professionally just for the warranty?

Replacing a 10 year old Hayward Tristar 3270EE

I've got a Hayward Tristar with a dead motor as of yesterday. It's mated with an Aquatronics panel I cannot afford to replace right now. The pump age is approximately 10 years. I've replaced the seals twice in 5 years, but I think it's at its lifespan given the Texas heat its endured. I've...

Did a backflush, now sand filter is slowly bleeding sand into pool

@Texas Splash: I had the sand replaced two years ago and this is the first time anything has happened. It is definitely sand (so gritty it broke the belts twice on my now retired Polaris 360). I'm assuming replacing anything on the inside means *all* the sand must be removed again? If so, how...

Did a backflush, now sand filter is slowly bleeding sand into pool

I performed a backflush two weeks ago. Ever since small amounts of sand float into the pool and spa. Spa seems to get more than the pool. Is it possible one of my laterals broke when I backflushed? I don't want to empty my filter of sand if it could be the valve at the top causing my...

Doing complete rebuild of pool pad, should I buy a new boost pump, or get a robot?

Ok, I've had my Dolphin for a week now. I must say this thing is amazing. My pool is cleaner than it has ever been even with my 2-year-old Polaris 360. For fun I also threw it in my spa, and it cleaned it out also! I'm definitely a believer now. Thanks for all the help!
