    Opinions on Heater Estimate

Well said. I do appreciate all the information and passion in this thread. I am going to ask for a line by line breakdown estimate. It makes sense to know how much is being charged for labor and parts. Also, I plan to get 2 more estimates as suggested. I really wish I could get the Raypak...

    Opinions on Heater Estimate

Wow - thanks for all the great information. I will definitely act on it. As for the Raypak, the explanation was that it would wind up under our bathroom window and therefore it wasn't a recommended option. Here's a couple of shots of our setup:

    Opinions on Heater Estimate

I'm just looking for a recommendation based on my choices from the estimate below. Unfortunately, a Raypak doesn't seem to be a good fit for my setup. Any advice on which to choose or avoid would be appreciated.

Thanks to you both for the advice. It is much appreciated. It looks like Raypak is coming my way. I'm kinda glad this was the advice despite the cost.

Heater Repair or Replace advice needed.

I have a sta-rite heater that's probably original so around 12 - 13 years. It makes a pretty loud knocking noise a minute or two after firing up. It almost sounds like something is loose and banging around inside the lower part of the heater. The heater eventually cycles off. I replaced both...

    Help with Acid Wash Decision

I have a Taylor k-2006 test kit that I haven't used yet. If you don't think that's good I'll order one of the kits you suggest. One other quick question. Am I safe to have my pool empty for a week? Obviously I didn't time this well.

    Help with Acid Wash Decision

Thanks for the quick replies. After the first reply, I scheduled an acid wash for the pebble tec and bead blast for the tile. I like the idea of starting from new-ish and following the TFP methods from here on. Unfortunately i didn't find TFP in time to get it right the first time, but better...

    Help with Acid Wash Decision

Hi All - Today I am in the process of draining my pool. I really need advice on whether I should do an acid wash and probably bead blasting of tile while the pool is empty. Doing some reading on here it seems that an acid wash will lessen the life of the pebble-tec? However, I've also read...
