    iChlor 30 Flow Light

My pool passed the overnight chlorine loss test. After the highest pollen output here in 50 years I had cleaned the pool, skimmer basket, screens and pump basket. But your comment made me think. I had not backwashed the sand filter. I did that after reading your post (algae clogging) and voila...

    iChlor 30 Flow Light

This is the second year with my iChlor 30. When I turn on my Pentair Superflo VS Pump and it's priming the green light is on the salt indicator and the flow indicator and it is generating chlorine. When it goes from priming to regular speed the green flow light stays on. I come back 30 minutes...

    Brown Stain

I live in North Carolina and opened my pool the first week of March. When I removed the cover, there was the usual amount of leaves, cleaned them up, added salt, and got the water chemistry right. Not so sure you can see that well from the picture, but I have a brown stain on the liner on the...

    OCLT and Rain

reggiehammond, the reason I was struggling to maintain FC was because I had a new SWCG installed and was having flow problems due to a clogged screen...which has since been resolved. My earlier post reported crystal clear water and CCs of zero. I did OCLT again last night...this time properly...

    OCLT and Rain

Chlorine got added after the first test via SWCG. The pump ran with the SWCG running until 10pm. This was my mistake. I believe that is why the FC was higher this morning. I will wait until FC is up over 3 and redo the OCLT.

    OCLT and Rain

Pump shuts off at 10pm. I thought higher chlorine this morning was result of no sun at night along with too low of CYA.

    OCLT and Rain

reggiehammond, you say I do not want to raise my CYA?? For a salt pool on TFP is shows a CYA of 80 is appropriate. I am at 40. Pool passed OCLT. FC after sunset was 1.0. This morning before sunrise FC=2. No ccs. I am raising SWCG output from 40% to 60% this morning.

    OCLT and Rain

Yes, I did go from 13.5 FC to 5.5 FC in one day. Maybe because of all the rain (I wasted off 7 inches) and a CYA of only 25 to begin the SLAM?? I don't know. Currently salt level is 3600, PH 7.6, TA 80. I have CYA up to 40 now, FC this morning was 1.0. Pool water is crystal clear. I had adjusted...

    OCLT and Rain

No rain overnight last night. Pool passed OCLT this morning (5.5 to 5.0). Pool crystal clear. CCs were zero. Thank you TFP!

    OCLT and Rain

Could the rain introduce organic matter into the pool that would cause the FC level to drop?

    OCLT and Rain

Interesting! I am running the pump at 3000 rpm 24/7 and have been over a week. I always take samples about elbow deep in the water. FC was 15.5 last night after sunset and 13.5 this morning. There is no organic matter in the pool and the water is crystal clear and has been for a couple days. I...

    OCLT and Rain

I have slammed my pool for about a week and two days ago the water turned crystal clear. The overnight test shows no CCs. I have done the OCLT twice, but failed to read FC loss in the morning of 1ppm or less. Both times we had severe storms overnight and at least an inch or two of rain in the...

Pentair iChlor levels vs. TFP recommendation

I just installed a new Pentair iChlor SWG. I am a bit confused as to levels to maintain for CYA and TA. With previous generator I always followed TFP recommendations of TA at 60-80 ppm and CYA of 70-80 ppm. The user's guide for this Pentair iChlor recommends TA at 80-120 ppm and CYA at 30-50...
