    Higher CYA = lower pH?

It's a hotel pool, and trichlor is the only disinfectant we can use because of the size of the pump room. There's not enough room for anything but a trichlor feeder. I need a way to prevent the pH from goin up too fast. We can't hand douse while the pool is open. we have an IPS ORP...

    Higher CYA = lower pH?

quick question. We use trichlor at work for our jaccuzi. I've been draining it once a week to keep the CYA down to below 100. Over 100 and you get shut down by the health department. I want to keep the pH from rising fast. I drained the jaccuzi, filled it up, added acid to get the pH to 7.2...

Gonna get a new pool built. Any tips?

I need ideas so we get everything done correctly the first time, and not have regrets later on.

Gonna get a new pool built. Any tips?

I need ideas for my future pool. I'm getting a new pool built. I already have 2 quotes from 40k to 44k. I'm thinking of going with salt chlorinator, cartridge filter, concrete pool with white plaster, easy touch controls I'm a pool operator and I've only dealt with commercial pools with...

    Trichlor and the sun

Can't go over 10ppm on FC as this is a public pool that's overseen by the local health dept. Max FC allowed for public pools is 10ppm before they shut you down and fine the hotel. I use a Palintest photometer, the same one the health dept. inspector uses when he shows up for his random pool...

    Trichlor and the sun

Adding phosphate remover weekly was the only thing that worked. I tried having FC at just under 10 constantly while keeping CYA at 30 maximum. That didn't work. The only thing different between summer and winter is no sun hittting the pool and having almost zero bathers.

    Trichlor and the sun

We use rainbow chlorinators with solenoid valves hooked up to ORP controllers. We backwash out a lot of water every day to keep CYA at around 30 to 40. The FC is pretty constant as well as CYA. When pH gets to 7.8, we add a gallon of acid. Usually brings it down to 7.4. TA pretty much hovers at...

    Trichlor and the sun

Very small bather load during the winter. People go out to the pool to tan. If there's no sun hitting the deck, nobody goes out there. Maybe 5 bathers a day at the most during winter.

    Trichlor and the sun

This is a commercial pool and we use trichlor. 40k gallons. The pool doesn't get any sunlight during winter. How crucial is UV to trichlor? Pool turns green many times during the cold season even when tje free chlorine is usually at around 5-7 ppm with CYA at 30-40, pH at around 7.6-7.8 and TA...

Trichlor vs. Cal hypo... anyone use Cal Hypo?

It's an IPS m920 controller It uses about 4 tabs of trichlor a day, but it varies widely, depending on the number of bathers and the sun. I dump about 1/6 of the pool water, so maybe 8k gallons of water taken out and an equal number of fresh water added in.

Trichlor vs. Cal hypo... anyone use Cal Hypo?

That is the issue. I have to dump a ton of water every day just to keep the CYA at 50-60. The higher the CYA, the higher the FC is because the controller compensates for it. 650 mV is the minimum ORP recommended as it will set the FC to the minimum "target FC" based on the CYA level. 50 CYA...

Trichlor vs. Cal hypo... anyone use Cal Hypo?

The controller compensates for the CYA. I set the ORP to 650, and depending on the CYA levels, it adds chlorine until the ORP hits the set point. 650 mV ORP with a CYA of 50 always puts the FC at around 7-8 ppm.

Trichlor vs. Cal hypo... anyone use Cal Hypo?

ORP controller adds chlorine based on the need of FC, depending what ORP level you set, but CYA levels change the needed free Chlorine in that the higher the CYA levels, the higher your FC need to be.

Trichlor vs. Cal hypo... anyone use Cal Hypo?

I use a Palintest photometer to test chem levels. It's what the health departmet uses during inspection. I use an ORP controller to feed trichlor, so it feeds whatever is necessary in relation to CYA levels. The FC is around 7ppm on average in the morning I'm looking into SWG as well, as the...
