What voltage activates pool automation relays?

I have a Hayward/Goldline automation system. It has relays that look like this: Amazon.com : Hayward RELAY 3hp FOR AQUA OR PRO LOGIC - GLX-RELAY : Swimming Pool And Spa Supplies : Garden & Outdoor. I have a separate wifi 4 bank 12v dc relay that I use to activate 9 or so different speeds on my...

Adjust jandy valve actuator manually to a position?

Wow the manual operation mode is fantastic, I had no idea! Thanks so much, I will test this out in the morning. I can't use the automatic positions because it's a two way and the two ways are spa + pool (pool mode) and everything into the spa (spa mode).

Adjust jandy valve actuator manually to a position?

I am getting some work done on the flagstone on my spa and I need to have the spa empty for 2 days. I can drain the spa but I would like to run the pool pump during this time. In the photo there is a yellow circle around the jandy actuator. If I could rotate that valve 180 degrees it would stop...

Filter is more sensitive after pump upgrade, needs more backwashing

Quick update. I've done some tests with low speeds and the booster pump pool cleaner. Pool full (meaning the water level is high at the skimmers): 2500 rpm, run cleaner, spillover has a very reduced flow. Stop cleaner, more flow at the jets, spillover does not recover. Pool low (meaning there is...

Filter is more sensitive after pump upgrade, needs more backwashing

The latest set of tests that I'm performing is with the amount of water in the pool. This week the water was low enough that I was going to have to add some in. I noticed that the headloss was non-existant. So now I'm performing all the same tests with low speeds, keeping the water on the low...

Filter is more sensitive after pump upgrade, needs more backwashing

At the start the symptoms were: (1) got new pump (2) flow at the spillover reduced (3) backwashing fixed. After a month of repairs (that weren't needed) and testing I found by random chance that turning the pump off also resolved everything. Prior to this I thought it was a backwash issue, how...

Filter is more sensitive after pump upgrade, needs more backwashing

It has been almost a month and I wanted to report on my findings. My original question was why did this happen when I got a new variable speed pump. I am 100% sure why now, it is the pump running at slow speeds and gravity (someone can probably explain this better). My equipment is a little...

VS Pump taking in air at low speeds

I took the lid off and the installer did not put any magic lube on the seal. It was kind of hard to get a fat finger down in there but I greased it up pretty good. Now at 2500rpm after 4 hours there is a tiny bubble and after 8 it's a bit bigger. Doesn't seem to be affecting the performance...

VS Pump taking in air at low speeds

I found a great post on here Pentair Variable Speed Pump losing prime at lower speeds (adding it so I can find it later). I'm going to try the ideas in there. Not the same pump but the same symptoms.

VS Pump taking in air at low speeds

On my new VS pump, if I run it at 3100 or 3450 there are no bubbles in the pumps viewport. Then I change to a lower speed, 2250 or 2500. Over the course of 8 hours I noticed that there slowly is more and more air in there. After 8 hours the water level is an inch down from the top. I can turn...

Filter is more sensitive after pump upgrade, needs more backwashing

I may have found a piece to the puzzle. I have been keeping the FC above the recommended 5 for 7 days. Yesterday while enjoying the pool I had the pump running at 3100 rpm. Flow was perfect. I was done for the day and I reduced the speed down to 2500. Immediately the flow was reduced to less...

Poor mans bubble reducer for a spa blower!

You absolutely could make a T and put a valve on it. Then you could open and close the valve to the desired amount. I wouldn't think it would be any noisier than the hole. I'd say the air noise ads 15% to the blower noise. Luckily my equipment is around the corner and you can't even hear it at...

Poor mans bubble reducer for a spa blower!

My spa had a 1hp blower. It died and I wanted more air flow so I went with a 2hp. Wow did I get some air flow then, but it was a little too much. Then I had an idea how to reduce the air flow for about $5. I bought one small PVC pipe and one PVC coupler. I stuck them together and drilled a small...

Small drip from where valve meets pvc

It is the suction side. Also it's the suction when in spa mode, so in normal pool mode nothing is even moving through the pipe. I can even drain the spa into the pool and have that pipe be empty. It's been dripping for years, not any better or any worse.

Filter is more sensitive after pump upgrade, needs more backwashing

I took this cheap 14" brush that I bought from Walmart for when I put calcium hardness in. I brushed that down the sides of the pool and about 3 feet along the bottom and then back up the wall. All around the pool. Looks the same, clear. I've never brushed the pool before but I have used this...
