Turning off SWG during the winter and Our FC levels

Jasonlion, Thanks for the clarification. But with such a high FC, should I be concerned? Do I need to lower it in some other form or just lower the SWG to 1%? Regards,

Turning off SWG during the winter and Our FC levels

Our pool is 6 months old and we leave in North Texas where we were advised by everybody to keep our pool running during the winter. We have a freeze-guard system that kicks on whenever the temperature falls below 38 degrees. It's been working well but today when I checked the chemical balance in...

    CYA - stabilizer

Thanks FPM, I am sorry the sentence was not written correctly. That means I added 19Oz of MA to get the Total Alkalinity to 70 PPM (recommended by Waterbear). Thanks for the info on CYA testing. I was not aware of how much longer to wait before testing again. Also, was confused about whether it...

    CYA - stabilizer

Waterbear, Thanks for the article. I read it 5 minutes before you posted. One think that I am not totally sure if I have under controls is the Ph/TA testing. I have bought one of those TF-100 and although it has a test kit for both, on the Ph procedure which is done with the blue box (K-1000)...

    CYA - stabilizer

Waterbear/Jasonlion, I added the muriatic acid yesterday around 6pm as waterbear recommended. I used the calculator and although it told me to add 19oz to get to 70ppm. After that, I added the AquaChem stabilizer (100% CYA granules) that I had bought yesterday at Lowes for $9.50 per each...

    CYA - stabilizer

Waterbear, Thanks for your reply and follow up on this. You are the best. BTW, I changed from Chroline to SWG before the plumming got finished just because of the many reviews I read and also because of your postings. Anywa, my pool is just a month old and I have had consistent low levels of...

    CYA - stabilizer

Can I find plain CYA at regular stores or just pool stores?

    CYA - stabilizer

I was wondering if there are any effective products out there to increase CYA that doesn't cost an arm like the one I bought from Leslie yesterday (1 Gallon for $35).

    Air bubbles from main drain

Thanks for the insight. Actually, after we filled the pool beyond 3 feet, the air bubbles stopped. We will have a technician coming to our house tomorrow to start up and we will see if there is any issue although I think it was just air in the pipe.

    Air bubbles from main drain

We are filling up the pool. Finally!!! We noticed that while we are filling it up, there is a very small stream of bubbles coming from one of the 4 main drains. It is small but steady. It's been like that for the past 3 hour. The pool if filling up well though. Any idea if this is an...

    Pulse Check on Pool Spec

Based on the specs I got on their website, it seems that if I had gone with the SHPM 2.5-2, the last "2" probably means 2 speeds. Mine says SHPM 2.5 only, which apparently it is the single speed.

    Pulse Check on Pool Spec

Hi There, It's been a while since I posted here. It's been a busy process to build our pool and learn about several things that were not business as usual for us. I am writting today to ask for help with our pumps. We discussed a little bit about the whole thing back when I posted this thread...

Sliding Gate Automatic Closure & Safety Tinted Windows

Hi There Rvstriker, Small world indeed. I am checking with the city but usually they a re a little vague on their answers. For instance, the sliding gate issue is not spelled out on the city ordinance but some inspectors require, while others, don't. I have questionned that to the city via...
