Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

I’ve also found the same thing! Brought FC to 5ish and within a day had clear water - EVEN when CC was 0 and I passed OCLT. Thanks @proavia for participating here :)

Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

Awesome, thanks, I’ll live a bit higher, try out another OCLT (when this crazy rain cools down a bit), and hope for some clarity (of pool water …. And mind 🤪) Thanks for all the feedback.

Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

Great! When you say “upper target number”, do you mean SLAM target FC based on CYA of 40, or just the upper limit of what my baseline should be (the 5-7 you mentioned previously). Does the lower starting FC make the “passing” of an OCLT test inaccurate? Per the guide here, it says anything...

Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

Hi there - thanks for this info. I’ll start aiming for higher sitting FC levels. Are you thinking my OCLT was perhaps inaccurate because starting FC was too low? And that my clarity issue is still from an algae problem? I’ll bump up FC today and do another OCLT tonight.

Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

thanks for responding - I thought my poolmath app data was accessible, but I posted my full set of #'s above.... I'm perplexed because I've got (what I think) is good chems, but a still-hazy pool

Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

Hi there - I believe my poolmath app is viewable with data, but if not, here's my recent full set: FC 5.2 ph: 7.4 TA 60 Ch 350 CYA 30-40 CSI 0.18 temp 74 and just passed another OCLT last night

Is this a filtering issue? Cloudy water

Hi all - I’m kinda at the end of my knowledge here, so coming here to troubleshoot. I have balanced water, but my clarity isn’t great. In previous years, I’ve always had the “I can see the type of screw in my bottom drain” clarity, but I just can’t get there this year. After opening the...

Green to Great - The Project Begins

I’m no expert by any means, but I just had something very similar happen when I was cleaning up my swamp - a sudden decrease in my CYA levels when I hit FC of 30. I went from CYA of 60ish down to 30ish, and then adjusted my goal slam chlorine accordingly. I read some responses / experiences...

Have I set myself up for failure, and how much chlorine have I wasted?

Update on the swamp: I can now see my vacuum head about 6ft down! Pool owner patience is such a thing! I finally have CC of 0, and holding chlorine a bit better ...... had a weird drop in my CYA, which I can only attribute to my FC level getting high (per prior suggestions /experience...

If my CYA dropped mid-slam, do I have a new SLAM CHLORINE GOAL?

Yes, I've been making small progress in clarity .... I'll test CYA again this am after I get more reagent (been BLOWING through reagents, good gravy, even using 10ml samples where I can). Initially, I was concerned that my foggy water was affecting reading, but, at someone's advice, I used just...

Green to Great - The Project Begins

I didn’t read further down to see if you had other suggestions (yet) but I buy my calcium chloride dihydrate from a farm / ranch supply store (it’s de-icer) in a 50#bag for $33.

If my CYA dropped mid-slam, do I have a new SLAM CHLORINE GOAL?

Yes, my technique is combine water and Reagan’s, wait 30secs, then shake 30secs, hold at waist level with back to sun, add some, look away, add more, look away, etc. I was concerned initially that maybe my cloudy pool water was making my results high at 50 or 60, but posted here to verify, got...
