Pentair IC40 Low Salt Light Always On

Thanks Jason. I forgot to mention that I did acid wash the unit this before opening. The cell was clean and didn't exhibit any reaction to the acid wash at all. After about 2 minutes of nothing I emptied it and washed it out. I remove power from the unit during the winter but don't take it...

Pentair IC40 Low Salt Light Always On

I think my SWG has died but wanted to get the opinions of some more experience folks!! :) My SWG was heading into its 4th season. It had been working fine through last season but after getting the salt level up to 4800 ppm, the SWG is still reading low. I have a salt meter and calibrated it...

    What is normal startup PSI?

Great thanks. It is 2 inch plumbing. I'm planning on running at low speed when not cleaning but have been running in during the first two weeks to turn the pool over more to clean.

    What is normal startup PSI?

I have a Pentair Clean & Clear 420 Cartridge filter being pushed by a WhisperFlow 2 speed pump. For the life of me I can't remember what the startup pressure was when we first went live. I thought it was 12 PSI in high but it might have been in the low speed when the BP first started it up. I...

    Pool cover wearing deck

Thanks. I was thinking the same, but I'm also wondering how long the carpet is going to last year over year. Plus I could still see the carpet shifting without counter tension. We get wind during the winter. Was also thinking I could get 2" pvc pipe to run arround the edge of the pool with a...

    Pool cover wearing deck

Hi All, After opening my less than one year old pool last season, I noticed considerable wear marks on the stamped concrete (Stampcrete) from the pool cover and the retention straps. The deck is cantilevered and the rubbing on the edge of the deck is wearing the deck considerably. When we...

    Solar Pool Cover Not Heating

I leave it off during the day and put it back on at night. However, I have a reel which makes it much easier.

    Solar Pool Cover Not Heating

You'll find you'll be able to maintain heat much better as well, even on days you can't get production. On sunny days, I tend to see a 2-3 degree increase. The pool is still required to build on that heat to get production day over day, so the more you can leave it on, the better you'll get...

    IC 40 users

Are you able to get it swapped it out for the IC-20 before you install it? The Pentair Easy Touch P4 will do what you want but is pricey around $550. However, you can get the fine adjustment on the SWG plus on/off schedules, heater, anti-freeze control, mutiple schedules, lighting and a ton of...

    Rain Water

Sportsman's Guide has rain barrell collectors with a hose port at the bottom. You can run a hose directly to the pool. Just do a search on their site - they have a number of options.

Poolskim with Solar Cover - Worth buying one?

Most of the debris that I get comes in the form of pollen, springtails, leaves and bugs. I also use a solar cover as much as possibible. As we get into summer the pool will not be covered as much during the day but certainly at night. Is it worth getting a poolskim? I'm assuming you can...

How much should swg runtime increase with temp/sunlight?

You don't mention your pH level. I tend to see what you are describing collecting in the pool when pH gets too high. Keeping it lower (7.2) tends to eliminate that for me. It could be what you are seeing. for what it's worth, I ran my IC-40 last season for 12 hrs a day in the 50-60% mode and...

Pumping out excess water without monitoring?

Great ideas all, thanks. I was thinking along the same lines but was hoping someone had a commercial solution!

    Any regrets?

No regrets. I just manage pH on a daily basis. For me it's convenience and I like feel of the water better than chlorine. Having grown up with a chlorine pool, I much prefer the feel of salt. Plus, my french fries taste better when I dip them in the pool.
