New build - vinyl coming off in two areas after fill

Sometimes some vinyl will pop out in a few sections during a new install. Its an easy fix, no need to worry. Don't put duct tape on it. It can leave glue residue on the liner which can be a pain to get off. If your worried about water going behind the vinyl cover it over with a small tarp...

    Disaster strikes …

It is possible to drop a liner in colder temps. You can build a temporary inclosure over the pool with a tarp and some 2x4's. Use a couple space heaters to keep it warm. I usually keep the liner in the pool with me while cleaning and doing minor repairs on the bottom. Then very carefully...

Vinyl Liner over Old Plaster --- Saw on Mike Holmes' show

You can use tapcons to put on side mount single or dual track to hold the liner. You have to use faceplates and gaskets around returns, skimmers, lights etc.... To mount faceplates you would drill the appropriate holes and use stainless steel masonry screws. I have done about 15 of these...

Pool Renovation in Markham, Ontario, Canada

You will never keep the water out. You can patch the gap and should especially if it is a decent sized gap and if it has any sharp edges. But patching it won't stop the water. There is obviously water in the over dig of the pool and the easiest place for it to go is in your empty pool at the...

Pool Renovation in Markham, Ontario, Canada

The water coming through the steel is normal. Its seeping in because there is ground water around the pool and it has no liner in it currently. Its most most likely caused by the weather we have been having lately. Once there is a new liner in it, the water in the pool will hold it out.

about to have a pool built... a few questions

I've been building pools in Ontario for 16 years now, and from doing new installs and lots of pool renovations heres what I can tell you: 1. Clearstone is always better than sand as a backfill material. Unless you are digging in sand. If you're digging in sand then you can get away with sand...

    Pool Liner

I've taken liners out of 25+ year old pools and seen steel walls that have no rust and others that are covered in it. It depends on how you look after your pool. If you get a leak in your liner or pool lines and let it go for a period of time your going to get corrosion be it salt water or...

Lots of help needed and appreciated

I've been building pools for 16 years and have not met one person that doesn't like their salt system. It makes maintenance a breeze. They only time I've seen it become a problem is when people install a salt system and they have a heater that wasn't meant for it. As far as bottom material...

    Dogs and Vinyl

I have never seen a dog rip a liner. The best thing to do is the first time they go into the pool guide them to the stairs so they know thats where to get in and out.

DIY build - Help with cutting holes in steel wall panel

I never order light cut outs with my kits. Gives you more freedom on light placement. The appropriate sized hole saw or a jig saw will do the trick.

Trying to plan out Adding Deck Jets (if it will work)

I've installed lots of these jandy deck jets and they do work awesome. The way Jandy recommended doing them is 3/4 inch to 1' inch pipe out of the jet ran half way to the manifold. Then step it up to 1 1/2 the rest of the way to the manifold. 9' won't be a problem to hit the pool the other 2...

Vinyl Liner Steps - need some help/advice

When you order the liner you can have a bead put on the back of it. Using side mount track does work and will hold the liner in place. I actually had to do this last year on a pool with vinyl over benches. I've done the rod in pocket way and it doesn't work as good as the beaded lock in...

12x24 Gemini Inground Pool Install . Barrie Ontario Canada

Re: 12x24 Gemini Inground Pool Install . Barrie Ontario Cana Hi Robert....I know this is older but did you ever get the hole taken care of? This can happen if a piece of gravel is to close to the surface and just covered by the finish. You mention sand in the hole so the concrete could have...
