No suction- plumbing leak? Filter deep cleaning?

A couple of thoughts come to mind, it could be one of these or a combination of them. Check valve has got some "trash" in it and wont seal off. Is the water level in pool at its normal level, reason being a possible vortex when it does prime, allowing it to suck air and making it loose prime...

New to TFPC, prelim #'s posted.

At Walmart, in the pool supply section, find HTH Super Select Shock Treatment (red and white box/bag). That is Calcium Hypochlorite -56%. Walmart Item #: 551684711. It shows they have it in stock. Keep an eye on the useage and switch over to plain bleach when you reach your CH goal. Additonal...

Pump hot to touch and will not power on.

I would like to expand on Ivodjambov"s post. Please confirm that power is OFF to the pump. Safety first. Please use caution when handling the electrical wiring before discharging the capacitor. Capacitors can hold an electrical charge even with the power disconnected from the pump. To...

Milky white water after gritty substance removal

Just to clarifiy what Pooldv said: Water is clear. As long as you can see the bottom, the water is clear enough. You want to be able to see someone if they are in trouble or having dificulty and are in danger of drowning. Just hang in there, it will clear up and be so clean you can throw a...

A "no go" start to my SLAM

Under normal circumstances the criteria for swimming is that you can see the bottom of the pool AND that your FC level is below SLAM level. You Pass the seeing the bottom of the pool, but your not below SLAM. But your circumstances are not normal, you have a Ph that is extremely elevated (+8.2)...

    SLAM help please!!

Why isn't it being used?? Non functional??? Or just prefer not to use it??? A possible source of your algae may be under the drain cap and/or in the piping. I know it may be a long shot, but there would be no circulation in the pipe if its not being used. No circulation would mean no chlorine...

First time home (and pool owner)!!

Greetings Rev and welcome to TFP. Once you get your CYA, you can do one of two things. Measure to raise the CYA level to 20ppm and leave the pucks in the floater until they are used up OR take the pucks out of the floater and target a level of 30ppm of CYA. Either way, do not use the pucks any...

Leslie's says I"m fine, dipsticks and 4 other places say I'm not????

Just a thought, but if you added extra floaters and have the chlorinator full of pucks to combat this issue, it may be time to remove them. In fact to do the OCLT (Overnight Chlorine Loss Test), you need to have all sources of chlorine addition removed. If you have already done this, or i missed...
