Equivalence between pounds of Chlorine in SWCG and liquid bleach?

Yes, of course you are right. I tend to run it higher in summer and lower in winter and of course there is the Texas winter where things shut down. I am sure I am overestimating the actual effective running times. I will update once I contact the company.

Replacing pump with VS - Jandy or Pentair

Another vote for the pentair pumps. I substituted all my 80ies single speed pumps (3 of them) and could not be happier. They run over 12 hours a day on low flow settings and we have not had a single problem in 2 years. Also, check with Austin energy about the rebate (the information should be on...

Equivalence between pounds of Chlorine in SWCG and liquid bleach?

Thanks Jim! So essentially 1pound of CSWG produced chlorine is equivalent to 182 oz (1.42 gallons) of 8.25% bleach. That is perfect, it tells me that my Si60 cell can make the equivalent of 4.26 gallons of bleach per day. I agree that the cell should not have started to fail after only 2 years...

    opinions on circupool tj-16 pre-filter

I have a 2 pool system connected by a spillover. Each pool has its own pump and filter. Originally the filters were both DE, but last year I replaced one of the DE filters by a sand filter (it was original to the install ca. 1985 and starting to fail in multiple ways). One of the issues in my...

Equivalence between pounds of Chlorine in SWCG and liquid bleach?

Can someone help me understand what the equivalence is between a SWCG that can generate say 1lbs of Chlorine in 24 hours and the equivalent amount of "supermarket bleach"? I have searched around but have not found an answer. My circupool Si60 cell appears to be in its last legs and I am trying...

Upgrading to an additional sand filter

Thanks for the replies. I am not saying that this would make sense when designing the system from scratch, but rather as an improvement on an existing arrangement. I could just replace one of the DE filters by a large sand filter, but it seems a waste to just throw away a perfectly nice DE...

Upgrading to an additional sand filter

Hi everybody, I have a pair of pools connected by a spillover but with essentially independent pump and filtration systems. I am slowly trying to reduce the amount of maintenance. I installed a SWG recently and changed the 30 year old single speed pumps by variable speed ones. One recurring...

    Advice on pool fence

We have had our pool now for about 1 year (came with the house) and with 2 small children we really need to get our safety gear in place. We would like to put in one of those removable pool fences that slot into "sleeves" in the deck. All I have read always assumes that they insert into a...

    Recommendation for very simple pump

Hi all, we have two pools that are connected by an overflow. I have installed a saltwater generator on the "top" pool (instead of the existing tab chlorinator that was there) so the "lower" pool gets its chorine from water exchange with the "top" pool. This is all handled by a dedicated 0.75 HP...

    Dolphin Nautilus Plus vs Triton

I have a nautilus+ and it does climb the wall and scrub around the water line. I have never seen a triton in action so I can't say whether the cleaning is substantially different. If I get a chance tomorrow I can try to make a video and catch the waterline cleaning in action.

Pool cleaner - All is new to me

About one year ago I was trying to decide between the nautilus + and the triton. I ended up going for the cheaper nautilus as the additional features of the triton did not matter much to me. I am not sure why people keep saying it does not climb walls and clean the waterline, it DOES. The...

Creekside Pool in San Antonio, Texas

I am quite new to this forum but it seems your situation is quite different than the typical case here in that you have a very quick water replacement due to leaks. What do you estimate it to be per day? If it is high enough, your needs might really be well served with chlorine tabs since you...
