    New liner means new water

I'm out of some reagents from last year or they expired, so I tested pH and TA myself and used pool store reading for Chlorine (unsurprisingly zero-ish) and calcium when I was picking up the salt.

    New liner means new water

Hi all, I just had my liner replaced so all the water was delivered fresh yesterday. I checked readings prior to starting with the chems and got this: pH: 7.2 Free Chlorine: 0.1 TA: 250 (lotta limestone near here) Calcium: 318 CYA: 4 I have a 22k gal SWG pool with a vinyl liner. I hit it...

New Pool, still struggling a little.

I threw out the bottle I used to add CYA, but it should have increased it by around 30 I think. I'LL have to buy some acid, was using some pH reducer the previous owner left around. Doesn't seem to be doing the trick

New Pool, still struggling a little.

Hey all, Thanks for all the advice so far. This is what I am currently testing at: pH 8.0 (it keeps staying about here, whats the best way to get it lower, I know SWG pools tend to go up over time) FC 8.2 CC 0 TA 70 CYA 40 (Dumped a whole lot in previously and it doesn't seem to have moved...

    Black stuff on skimmer

Having people over this afternoon so I cleaned the pool with the manual vaccum and skimmed it. I noticed some strange darkness on the skimmer when I'd take it out to dump bugs. I dragged it once the length to get a better idea and it came away with a thick dark line. What the heck is it? I...

    Got the test kit!

Water is crystal clear, no sign of algae. Shouldn't I use the salt generator to increase chlorine? Or is bleach better?

    Got the test kit!

Hi, I posted a week or so ago about getting a new house with a pool and my test kit finally arrived, I got the K-2006 as suggested. Finally got around to testing and here are the results: pH: 7.7/7.8 FC: 3.6 ppm TC: 3.8 ppm (CC was close to zero I thought) TA: 80 ppm CH: 30 ppm CYA: <40 ppm...

Just bought a house with a pool

Ok, here is a follow up question you can help me with: its a SWG pool and the water level is currently ABOVE the skimmer due to heavy recent rains. Can I just attach a hose to the filter which has a release and drain x gallons into and around the yard?

Just bought a house with a pool

Hey all, I bought a house with a pool which has been a dream since I was a kid. When we looked at the house a couple times the pool was sparkling and awesome. Moved in a week ago and while the water looked good, there were a lot of debris, leaves, sand, etc in the pool. I spent the last 5 days...
