My CYA is creeping up and I don't know why

Thank you for your response, Herman. I think the culprit might be the reagent. The old tests were done with older chemicals left over from last year. I opened up a new reagent for CYA today. The only concern that I have is that the pool was behaving properly until the last 2 weeks. I will test...

My CYA is creeping up and I don't know why

FC 5.0, pH 7.6, Alk 60, CYA 60, CH 230, pool temperature 72 degrees I hope everyone is having a great summer and enjoying their pool. I am just starting to run into a CYA problem. At the beginning of the season (5/16) I tested my CYA and it was at 30. I tested CYA multiple times and confirmed...

    Cyanuric Acid Reading

Hello, I just opened my pool today and the water temperature is a chilly 56 degrees. I took a water sample and heated the water in the microwave for 20 seconds. I then measured my cyanuric acid and it was 40. I was expecting a zero reading. Is it normal to have a reading this high when...

I think I might have some algae

FC last night was 4.5. I tested it twice, just to make sure the reading was correct. This morning my FC was 4 both times I tested it. Thank you for your help. I am not going to do the SLAM.

I think I might have some algae

CYA is 30 FC is 6 pH is 7.5 ALK is 80 I tend to keep my chlorine on the high side to prevent my pool from getting algae. I solve each morning for FC of 6 and let it drift down to around 4 each day. I was surprised when I saw what looked like algae in my pool yesterday. I brushed it away and...

Yellow/Mustard Algae-Why is this happening to me?

Thank you for your reply. This morning my FC overnight test showed a chlorine loss of less than 1 ppm. The loss was just .5. I am assuming this reading was because it was yellow mustard algae and my chlorine was in good shape before I started the SLAM. Should I now move onto the next step and...

    Questions about my SLAM

Thank you for your reply. My notes from the TFP website said to maintain a pH of 7.2-7.5. I was at the upper range and did not reduce it to 7.2. I hope this is OK.

    Questions about my SLAM

I just opened my pool and I started my SLAM this morning. My readings were as follows: CYA 30 FC 0 pH 7.5 ALK 65 At 9:30am the pool Math told me to put in 3 gallons and 1 quart of 10% chlorine for shock level of 14 (app called for 12 but I thought I would go a little bit higher). At 1:00 my...
