Thanks for replying. I ended up retesting the water, adding some chemicals and shocking again. It was just better to start over since the water had not been filtering for days since the last shock.

I just opened the pool Sunday. I switched the sand filter over from recirculating to filter today. Everything seems to work fine, but I hear an intermittent noise every minute or so coming from the pump, like it’s laboring, it’s quick, then returns to normal. It’s a 1 hp challenger. Any thoughts?

That is certainly a possibility, and we've had some strong winds, but it's never happened before. The cover is getting replaced, so that will hopefully resolve the issue, if that's what is causing it. After refilling, there was more sand prior to adding any chemicals, but not nearly the amount...
