    Foam, lots of foam!

Opened the pool to dark greenish brown water. PH 7, CYA 40, FC 0. My SLAM target is 16. The water is so murky, I can't see the bottom, so I've just been scrubbing the sides, ladders and steps and back washed 3 times. My PSI has stayed steady at 9 - 10 PSI. My pool looks like someone used a...

    Planned Downtime

I guess that is the reason, when I put my numbers in, it tells me, "I must have dropped my phone in the pool!

    Unplugging SWG

Thank you so much. Those articles shed some light. Hopefully it will start warming up some tomorrow.

    Unplugging SWG

Thank you for the info. That was interesting and I got lost reading old threads that shared some light. It is supposed to start warming up some tomorrow. Thank goodness! So far, so good. I'm considering turning the pump off for a few hours during the day and running it as usual at night.

    Unplugging SWG

This is the first year I have left my pool open in winter. We have had below freezing temps at night for over a week. I know the SWG does not produce chlorine below 60. My water temp right now is 47. I leave my pump running 24/7 except when I am dipping leaves. I have the SWG at 00. It...

    Inflation-what are you doing?

We are debt free also but planned to trade my car this year for a new or newer one. We have changed our minds. My car drives good and looks good and has a little over 200,000 miles. It is an Escalade 2007. The hub gave it to me for Christmas in 07. I love it. It does love gas but does...

FC dropped from 4 to Zero in four days

Thank you! It seems I'm losing too much water. I had planned to do the bucket tests this season to see if I have a leak. I run my pump pretty much 24/7. I always open to algae and have to slam but once I get it going I tend to keep a good chemical balance until closing.

FC dropped from 4 to Zero in four days

Oh! Ok! I see I'm comparing apples to oranges. It just seems that 1/2 inch evaporation per day is a lot, which is a whole other subject! Thank you for your response!

FC dropped from 4 to Zero in four days

Math is not my strong suit. If a pool loses 4ppm's a day, can you convert that to inches? My pool on a hot summer day can lose 1/2 inch a day. Is that not normal?

Salt water generator says to service.

The plugs are tight and on and I can see the marks on the outside of the cell and someone has obviously used a huge wrench to open it. No way I can budge it. I guess i can get the pool boy to check it next Wed. When I checked the salt today, it was 3400 using the Taylor K-1766. The sensor...

OK! It is back on service and I am assuming the 121 is the error code.

Salt water generator says to service.

Sorry, was cooking dinner. I didn't know it had one! I did see a high number...I think 110 or 120 but not sure. Right now the service light is off again. I'll keep checking

Salt water generator says to service.

Thank you for looking those up. Looks like the generic is about $370. less shipping. Is that something I can do myself or do I need someone to install it? I just noticed the cell is on and the service light is off. I think I will try to wait for spring as with my closing costs and cell, that...

Salt water generator says to service.

I have no manual. Previous owner installed it in spring of 2016. We bought the house in fall of 2016. I called the pool store who used to open and close my pool but no longer will since I do not buy chemicals from them. They said the cell probably needs to be replaced. $1000-$1500. or more...
