How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

I haven’t posted here since I got my above ground going at my old house a few years ago. It was kept flawlessly clean for 3 years on the BBB method for $10 a week. We moved into our new house last Wednesday with this pool. The seller said it was a salt water pool. I assumed we could swim a...

    Return gasket replacement

Just as a follow up for anyone ever finding this in a search. The above is the way to do it. I probably lost maybe 1 gallon of water when I actually swapped the fittings. Worked great. Now to fix the 3 piece pvc union I broke tightening it back up. The root problem was that the return...

    Return gasket replacement

I've tightened it more to the point it's starting to spit the outer gasket out. There is no exterior evidence of a crack, I can't feel anything on the inside, but I haven't put a mask on in the pool to check it. I'll try blocking it with toilet plunger and see if that cuts off the leak. It's...

    Return gasket replacement

I had an above ground pool installed last year. The installer put two returns in. One just below water line and one about 2' from the bottom. The lower one has had a leak since day one. It leaks to the outside between the outside threads of the body and the big retaining nut. That must mean...

    Warning About Walmart Liquid Chlorine

I've been watching this because I bought some walmart pool essentials 10% a few weeks ago. I'm still learning what it takes to keep consistent FC in my pool. I had my FC in the acceptable range, but I was trying to inch it up day by day to the mid range for my CYA of 35. By the Pool Math...

    Time to take control

For the salt test you need. R-0630 and R-0718. The instructions for the salt test should be on your lid and the cylinder in the 2006 kit will work. TFTestkits.net TFTestkits.net You might as well get a refill on the CYA reagent while you are ordering. I just went through this with a k-2006...

Working on getting a new 24' above ground pool going

I had left the chlorine feeder on 2 and the pump has run about 6 hours since I checked yesterday. FC = 1 CC = 0 TA = 60 PH = 7.4 CYA= 0 I shut the chlorine feeder off and I'm going to add 2 lbs. of CYA to a sock in the skimmer. The pool math says 3.4lbs to get me up to 30, but I I want to...

Working on getting a new 24' above ground pool going

Ok, that makes sense. I can see that the CYA reagent won't last but about 3 tests per bottle. I'll shut off the chlorine feeder and leave the pucks in it to use it if we go away for vacation. I'll pick up some stabilizer today on my way home.

    New pool owner in TN

We've already been in the pool a few times. The inspector wants a "convenience plug" added and I haven't been able to fill in the trench yet because of it. The builder moved a lot of dirt around to keep the side all at 48"+ so I don't have to do a fence. There was 14" of elevation chance from...

Working on getting a new 24' above ground pool going

We just finished getting our above ground pool filled about a week ago. The pool builder suggested I come here to learn about how to maintain it. I've been reading and reading and just got my Taylor K-2006 kit today. I also got some Aquacheck test strips to give myself a sanity check and to...
