Correct chemical levels for my system?

Hey all, I'm starting to get a handle on things but I'm still learning...I think I have a fairly complicated system (brand new) and I want to get my levels correct. I should say that my water is crystal clear, free of metals, and has low hardness (comes from a well) and is always at 7.5 pH...

    Clorox salt?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It wasn't just "rainwater" I had flooding which basically sent a river of mud into, and out of my pool. Had to do a lot of vacuuming to waste so what little chemicals were in the pool to start with were dumped away. As for how I'm testing... 1. I have a SWG...

Should I ignore this comment from my pool store regarding calcium?

I have a 38,000 gal vinyl lined pool, with plastic pipes, no heater, a variable speed pump, and stamped concrete as the apron. I have a well with no iron and very soft water. They ran a test and it says I have to add 70 lbs of "stuff" to bring my hardness up to "balanced levels". From reading...

    Clorox salt?

Just wanted to weigh in here. I basically have two choices for pool salt in my area. The local pool store $15.00 a bag, or Wallmart which only carries the Clorox at $5.30. Since my pool was overrun with rainwater ALL my salt was gone and to get it back up Pool math says I need 1,018 lbs of salt...

Water Chemistry while vacuuming to waste

Thanks Maddie, I hadn't thought about the algaecide prevention. That's a good idea. And yeah, we've been keeping the circulation off so things can settle. The problem is the dirt is very fine and is suspended. We are vacuuming blind because we can't see the bottom. I did dump a bunch of liquid...

First time pool owner and disaster struck -- twice!

Thanks Dave...it does help. I appreciate you taking the time. Some additional information/questions...so the first time around I ran the filter as I was hoping the dirt would be filtered out -- and I was slamming (because - well it was shown to clear pools much worse than mine was). But that...

First time pool owner and disaster struck -- twice!

Gah, I made this long post, and it didn't save, so I'm typing it in again. Okay, so I'm a first-time pool owner (38,000 gal vinyl pool with SWG, sand filter, Ozone/UV system, and variable speed pump). We've had it running for about 2 weeks and everything has been crystal clear, easy to...
