First opening, can’t get FC to raise

Running a mini test in a 5 gallon bucket. Calculated adding 1 mL 12.5% LC in the bucket is about 1.25 gallons of LC in the pool. Started at 5 mL and my FC (in the bucket) shot up above 10 ppm and held high for 10 min. Backed it off to 1 mL and FC up to 3 ppm. Leaving that bucket overnight...

First opening, can’t get FC to raise

Ah yikes! I did add some CYA which seems like the exact wrong thing to do. My CC is testing at 5.5, still near 0 FC. From the ammonia, I should test and keep adding chlorine. Any recommendations on CYA other than don’t add more until I start seeing some FC?

First opening, can’t get FC to raise

Struggling with pool startup. I opened to 0 FC yesterday. Added LC to get up to SLAM levels per pool math calculator (2.5 gallons 12%). Pool was pretty clear but had some gunk and worms that I vacuumed to skimmer. FC didn’t come up after initial add, very faint pink at the start of the test-...

How to connect Intelliflo pump to Hayward vari flo filter valve

I just replaced a 1 1/2” Hayward pump with a 2” Pentair Intelliflo pump. I have 2” to 1-1/2” reducing union on the pump. My plan was to run a straight pipe up to a 90 and a threaded union into the filter valve. I’m struggling to find a union to go into the filter valve. It seems like the...

    Replumb for new pump

Update- I ended up buying a 24” paver to raise my sand filter and used a keypad relocation kit to move the controls out from the back of the pump. I was also able to slide my filter back around 4” to give me a little extra straight before the pump. I had to do some futzing around to use the...

    Replumb for new pump

Is there a preferred orientation of the suction lines? Generally, I’ve seen the skimmers tied together and the main drain closest to the pump.

    Replumb for new pump

Main drain is closest to the pump. Skimmers are coming into the single T.

    Replumb for new pump

More fun- the new pump won’t fit under the backwash valve. Thinking of either rotating the filter 90 degrees so the valve is back behind (have easy access), or raising the filter up 2-3 inches on pavers. Either option reasonable? Or have better ideas?
