no chlorine or ph registering no matter how much I add and pool is cloudy

I'm still wondering why you all keep saying I refuse to get a test kit? I've been to all the stores or checked in my neighborhood and they do not sell Taylor's. I ordered from Amazon but it will take a week to get here. I have been using liquid bleach and borax to the pool previously until it...

no chlorine or ph registering no matter how much I add and pool is cloudy

I did not keep the box to the kit so I don't know which test kit it is. It had a test for cya so I did it. I don't appreciate jmbuys comment. I have done what you have suggested and will continue to. I have not ignored anything. I don't understand why ignorance (which means not knowing...

no chlorine or ph registering no matter how much I add and pool is cloudy

After a heavy rain, I had some algae. Added shock, algae remover, brushed down pool and vacuumed. Pool cleared, but when I tested the water, I had no ph and no chlorine registering. Took it to the pool store: had me add more shock, alkalinity, and ph rise. Did so. No results, except the pool was...

    lime green pool

On a tip from a friend, I went to still another local pool place. They gave me aluminum sulfate. Put 8 oz of this in the skimmer 3 days in a row and could immediately see the water beginning to clear. Now have a back-to-normal pool with all readings correct. Incidentally, the guy who put my...

    lime green pool

I went up to walmart and got their kit as it was the fastest way to go. I'll go do as you say and report back, but I'm not sure how to get the FC and CC levels on this test kit.

    lime green pool

Will order the test kit and head for the grocery store. I've read Pool School, but I confess to not understanding half of what I've read in spite of being a rather thoroughly educated person. Hubby took care of the pool for years, and then went and died on me. I don't understand why you say I'm...

    lime green pool

Can't find the test kit - took it to another, more reputable pool store and they ran the water again and said it had 0 0 chlorine in the pool! Don't know how if I put in all of that stuff. Anyway, they recommended 6 lbs of shock and some algae remover, which I added. Will shock again tonight...
