Fan runs. It does the normal start delay for 5 minutes, then I can hear the compressor humming or slightly buzzing for just a short bit, then nothing, then it tries again moments later. Would the compressor overall be the most likely failure if we had a water flow failure to the unit? I'm...

I checked the wiring after removing the exterior and electrical panels. Everything looks brand new - no visible issues of melting, etc.

Thanks - will do! When they have melted like that, the unit still tries to run? In any case, were you just able to strip and reconnect or was there an underlying issue that caused the wire to melt which also needs attention?

Found another person's youtube clip. This is what mine sounded like when we started it back up the first time after the auto shutdown from losing water flow.

We lost flow to the heat pump while it was running. It of course sensed this and shut down automatically. We've never lost flow to it before, so this is a first. We restarted the heat pump, and when the compressor kicked in after the usual 5 minute startup countdown, it was much louder than...

I think you were correct. It stopped chirping after a few days. No noise issues after stopping and starting up a couple times too. Perhaps it was just the new seal. I am relieved (for now anyway - ha)

Yeah. I don't regret trying to fix it. In any case, I learned how everything comes apart and can easily deal with a motor replacement now if needed. I'm keeping an eye on it. I shut the pump down last night. When I turned it back on, I heard just a short chirp vs sustained, and now it sounds...

Update. I must not have caught the situation quickly enough. The motor is starting to make a constant cricket type chirp today, so I’m assuming it’s bearing trouble. I may just have to order the new motor after all.

I reassembled everything yesterday with the new plate and seals. The only thing I had to rig a bit were a couple bolts which I could not source same length locally, so I just stacked stainless washers on them to ensure they did not go too far into the plate's receptacles. I decided to wait...

Yeah I know to do that now. The replacement seals I ordered are Pentair OEM, so hopefully good. I will definitely inspect the pad for any future leaks a lot more closely!
