    Another CLEAR green pool.

It started out murky green, and may have even had a day or two when it looked more blue, but as it cleared it turned the green and has stayed clear and green for about a week.

    Another CLEAR green pool.

I opened my pool May 15th, and it looked pretty good! I started SLAM with a PH of 7.2 and CYA of 20. I've been adding stabilizer, and this morning it was 30. The pool cleared up pretty fast and by last Thursday, the 22nd, I could see the bottom and across the pool. It was clear, but...

Have No Clue What We Are Doing....

I was in the same boat as you this time last year, but once you get your pool set up, test the water, and read this site over and over--you'll be comfortable with it all in no time. I have never done anything but BBB and my pool has always been crystal clear from day one. It really is easy and...

    Dollar General Bleach

I have and bought some the other day. I also seem to have good luck using it.

Return flow decreasing, but PSI only increasing by 4 or so??

Re: Return flow decreasing, but PSI only increasing by 4 or ah...25% increase...I was looking for an increase of 6-8 psi. Yea, I remember reading about 25%, but I got the other numbers stuck in my head. And I've had my liquid painkiller for the day, but I might need to move on to some Motrin...

Return flow decreasing, but PSI only increasing by 4 or so??

I started running the filter this morning, and have blueish, cloudy water, with a BUNCH of small particles in the pool. I can't see the bottom, but I can see shadows where leaves are settling. Basically when we took the cover off there was a hole in it and green, nasty water went in the pool...

    Is this a bad idea?

We tried to siphon the water off our cover a few days ago, but after 24 hours decided that we're taking water out of the pool, too. So now I have clear water under the cover and the green murk on top. The cover is shot anyway, so is it a bad idea to cut a hole in it near the skimmer and then...

Cover must have stretched/has hole. YIKES!

We started to open our pool a few weeks ago, but decided to wait because of the maples trees in our neighbor's yard...didn't want all those seed pods in our pool. Well, I swear it has been raining since then and I have watched our pool cover start stretching and weak areas start appearing in...

    BBB gets 5 stars!!

Last summer we bought an above ground pool and as I was researching pool maintenance I found this site. I am all about DIY, so I was hooked before the pool was even installed. For those of you reading that are still on the fence this is as close to trouble free as you can get. I have...

New pool & all is great, but now have a 10 day va-ca

you've given me some things to think about.... Since I have only used bleach, I haven't read much about the difference between dicholor and tri...I'll add that to my reading list. And I will also add raising FC to shock level and bringing up the TA. So far our temps have been on the cool...

New pool & all is great, but now have a 10 day va-ca

This is my last test: FC=5.5 CC=0 pH=7.2 TA=50 CYA= I haven't tested yet, but I've added enough acid to get it to 30. The TA test has consistantly put me in that 50, so I added 16oz of baking soda tonight, less than the pool calculator suggested, but I'm taking it easy. I'll test again in the...
