Acid pump options - DIY - Stenner - or? (settled on Pentair Acid Tank w/Pump)

Long story short.....the local pool supply store had not received the new IPH controller I ordered so I just cancelled it. They said Pentair could not give them a shipping date even though they have called Pentair multiple times to check on my order over the past 4 weeks or so. I'm going to go...

    Automate acid dosing with ET

Hello Dirk, Brian, Jim, My IPH controller crapped out a while ago so I decided to wire up a 24-volt power supply into the AUX 3 relay on my easy touch powered by an AFCI breaker I added to my panel. I named the relay "ACID PUMP" and set the function to Generic. I can manually press the AUX 3...

Acid pump options - DIY - Stenner - or? (settled on Pentair Acid Tank w/Pump)

You are correct and thanks for the link to the proper timer/power supply. As far as adding acid once a day versus once per hour in smaller doses: I do like the idea of avoiding the hysteresis or sine wave fluctuations between high to low pH swings by hourly dosing acid in small amounts...

Acid pump options - DIY - Stenner - or? (settled on Pentair Acid Tank w/Pump)

Lesson learned: If you want anything more than a 60-Day warranty on Pentair "TradeGrade" equipment, I highly suggest everyone at TFP take their business to your local "Brick and Mortar" pool supply store. Probably ok to buy non-TradeGrade products online but there isn't much. Dirk, Just...

Good suggestion. Do you have any recommendations for the proper power supply and hourly timer? I have an EasyTouch with extra relays but not sure if that can be configured to turn on the iph pump each hour the pool is running.

Acid pump options - DIY - Stenner - or? (settled on Pentair Acid Tank w/Pump)

Hi Dirk thanks for the reply but the controller should last more than 13 months certainly. I'm not going to buy anything form SunPlay anymore and suggest others do the same. The intelliPH controller costs $304.00 from my locally owned pool equipment dealer so it's worth the extra $50 to buy...

Acid pump options - DIY - Stenner - or? (settled on Pentair Acid Tank w/Pump)

Buyer beware warning: Pentair considers Sunplay an internet only store and only provides a 60 day warranty on this unit and almost all Pentair products sold by Sunplay. How do I know this? I bought my intellipH unit from SunPlay 13 months ago in July 2019 and the controller failed last week...

Adam's Pebble Plus - Northern CA

I talked to the south bay CA Gunite sales rep today. Conversation didn't go well at all.... CA Gunite rep said that there are all kinds of new codes and told me that it would be about $50k to remodel my pool. I was shocked and I had to laugh out loud. Her "over the phone rough estimate"...

Adam's Pebble Plus - Northern CA

Hello bbrock, What application company will you be using to install the wet edge products? Only one I know of is California's Gunite...but haven't heard much if anything about them at least down here. I dont know of anyone that uses them and haven't seen any pool done by them.

Ok thanks for the info. I may not use Adams pebble plus either after finding this out.

Adam's Pebble Plus - Northern CA

Where did you find out that Adams Pebble Plus or new mini pebble doesn't use mineral based pigments? I'm not trying to argue or disagree but I just want to know what finish is best to use for longevity and want apples to apples comparison. Also the wet edge, Adams, and Pebble tec warranty may...

Adam's Pebble Plus - Northern CA

I spoke with Adams Rep who got info direct from owner of Adams Pools. Pigments are all inorganic mineral based at least in Adams Pebble Plus finishes. According to Adams owner they (All Pool finish companies) all buy the inorganic mineral based pigments from same company in Arizona.

DIY Pool-- need help on start up

Hello Mknauss, My pool is rather large as well. I believe it is around 30,000 gallons if not slightly larger. I do not have a spa. After our pool remodel, happening this spring, I will have a pebble finish and I wish to add automation and a SWCG. I will also add solar water heating panels...
