    Caretaker Rebuild Problem

I am in exactly the same situation right now. I have rebuilt it several times and I am about done with this thing. Did you ever resolve the issue and can you share some of your wisdom to this poor soul? Thanks!

    Replace motor or pump?

Thank you, this is great info. Also my impeller has a hairline crack on it, it may be a good idea to replace it as well.

    Replace motor or pump?

I agree, replacing just the motor is pretty simple. I have already removed and installed the current motor twice. My question is if it's better to just replace the motor with an equivalent motor or would prefer a 2-speed motor. Knowing that the pool pump is 13 years old, it may be just better...

    Replace motor or pump?

I forgot to give a background of what happened. 1. Summer of 2016. Pool motor would make a humming sound and would not start. I replaced the start capacitor and pool pump worked fine until now. 2. February 2017. Pool pump would start for about 3 seconds and then shut off. 3. Replaced bearings...

    Replace motor or pump?

It looks like my pool pump motor has finally died forever. I want to see if it's possible and will save money to just replace the motor with a 2 speed motor or if I am better off just replacing the entire pump. The 2-speed pool pump motors run for about $350.00 while the entire pump runs for...

New to this, just emptied and filled my pool with city water

Thank you for the recommendation. I was able to spend a few hours this week end enjoying the crystal clear water of the pool and it felt great.

Yes that is exactly my fear, to add too much and end up too high. The main reason I drained the water was because the CYA level was just off the charts, I don't want to start with high levels of CYA. I will have to remind myself to be patient and continue testing until is completely stable...

I am using the sock method and this morning It was already showing up at around 20 ppm I will continue to add some more until I am in the 40-50 range. The chlorine is looking stable and the pH is at around 7.4 today with a Chlorine level of 10+ ppm.

Thanks for the tip, I just ordered the FAS-DPD Chlorine Test. I will continue to add CYA to increase the level, as of right now I have added about 4 lbs of stabilizer which according to the packaging they recommend to add 1 Lb. for every 3000 to 4000 gallons. I did not test CYA this morning...

Pool water is looking clean and clear, I am currently holding the Chlorine level at 10 while I continue to add some CYA and wait for the total CYA level to be raised to 30. Do I need to add clarifier to the water in order to trap all of the smaller particles floating around or is that just a...

There is one skimmer and a drain at the bottom. There are actually three "drains" at the bottom of the pool not sure if they are all connected but one is a leaf trapper and the others look just like normal drains. For the return lines I have played with every Open/Close combination of valves...
