    After a month of scrubbing and cleaning the filter, the spots went away. I have to travel for weeks so I am looking at way to keep the pool clean without much work. So I used copper ionizer and slow release chlorine tabs. It seems to work so far.

    I added 1/4 gallon of MA Muriatic acid yesterday (my pump still runs 24/hrs. This morning the pH is still high at 8.9. I wonder as it cures, it releases (-) ions OH- making the pH higher. The spots and patches are still there even when scrubbed. I will check with the contractor on this.

    I brought my water to the pool store for testing. My guess is that they over-simplified it. I do have an acid meter so I can check that but I will have to get my own test kit to check for % chlorine and other things in city water for correct application.     Hi, I just had my pool re-surfaced yesterday and filled with fresh new water here in South Florida.
