desired chlorine level when closing pool with solid cover

Re: desired chlorine level when closing pool with solid cove I just want to make sure 6ppm won't hurt solid cover. The pool is closed, but I may contact the cover manufacture, see what they say. thanks

    pH won't go down

Had the same problem and used PHDown weekly, sometimes every 4-5 days. Then, when I ran out of liquid chlorine I used 10-15 aquachem dual layer tablets then went back to liquid - PH hasn't been a problem since (for remaining month or two until pool closed). My readings were similar to yours...

    CH: Leslie's 270 ppm. TF100 800ppm. What now?

I've had similar issue with CH readings. If you take your water to a few different Leslie's stores you may get different readings. The guy whose readings were low would stop testing once he saw some particles (metals?) and his results were around 400 if I remember correctly. My TF100 results...

desired chlorine level when closing pool with solid cover

I have about 6ppm right now (cya 50-60) and closing in 18hr with one of those $2,500-3k anchor solid covers. Is that OK? Also, guys who will close my pool may shock it. Last two closings they used non-chlorine shock oxidizer ("GLB 3 part system" and the following year "AquaZone winterizing...

    Question about tablets

Yes, I think they are ph 3 or less. I would like to know how to make it steady with liquid chlorine. Should I lower my TA a bit? I know, but the question was - how do they manage to hold chlorine level in the pool when they are almost completely dissolved. I had 3ppm today at 8AM and I have 3ppm...

    Question about tablets

I was out of liquid chlorine last week, so I put 5 tablets in 2 floaters, 4 tablets in 1 floater and 1 in the other. CYA 35 allows it. I had both floaters half open, which kept my chlorine level between at 3-3.5 every single day. We had a couple of rains in the last couple of days (one last...

Cartridge filter pressure went up from 10 to 20

all winterizing plugs are removed. All valves are open. heater bypass valve - will need to look into it. Never used the heater, have no idea how it works. Will need to find a manual to see where this valve is located. thanks for the link on cartridge cleaning. I guess I could run system...

Cartridge filter pressure went up from 10 to 20

When I opened my pool and started the pump I realized (about 10-15min later) that I forgot to unplug returns. 2 out of 3 returns plugs were rubber (1 return and vac) and they just shot out. I've been running pool for a couple week now, don't see any issues other then - my pressure used to be 10...

how long should chlorine last in closed covered pool?

I closed pool in October. When opened at the end of May I had 1-2ppm of chlorine. Is that normal? CYA 30-40. Don't know how much chlorine I had in the pool when it was closed, probably between 2-5. Pool closing kit with chlorine free shock was used right before the cover was put on. Thanks

    pH won't stay down

I have the same issue and keep lowering it almost weekly. My TA is about 90-110, FC 2-5, CYA 30-40 I find it a bit difficult to see the exact PH reading (Taylor K1000), but when it's around 7.8 (against white background) I lower it with 12oz of ph down. Then I test again in a couple hours and...

    Chlorinator questions...

I wonder how your friend was able to get that exact number. What test kit does he use? CYA is the most difficult test IMO and test results vary depending how you test it. I get 30 when outside with the sun hitting the tube, 40 with the sun hitting my back and the tube is over my shadow, etc.

Don't trust your local pool store!!!

I do my own testing with TF100 kits, but I'm still confused why Leslie's test results are different. I even had the same water tested in 3 different stores within less than 1hr and I'd count the number of drops myself and I'd check their CYA tube myself and it's different between stores. The TA...

    algae or stain?

I had the same pool company close my pool last 2 seasons. When I opened my pool last season it was crystal clear, today I have something that looks like an algae. I tried vacuuming, but it doesn't come off. It's not too much of it, but interestingly it's mostly near main drains and some on...
