First SLAM - finished at last!

Not one little bit. Duraleigh says it's probably related to the high level of calcium in the water.

New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Removal

Re: New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Remov Bump... FC holding well, dropping very slowly as it was still 35 today, CC 0. Can we talk about the stains?

First SLAM - finished at last!

Just a quick update. Tested FC today (10ml test) at 12:15 p.m. and it was 35. CC was 0! Water still beautiful...

First SLAM - finished at last!

I understand your point. From my perspective, it wasn't supposed to be an OCLT as I didn't test last night. In my mind, great accuracy is not needed at the moment while I'm switching gears from SLAMming to simply tracking my chlorine loss as it falls down to normal levels so I know when to...

New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Removal

Re: New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Remov FC this morning was 36, and CC was 0.5. Tested TA this morning, it has risen to 160. Tested the CH of my fill water this morning as well, it is 110.

New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Removal

Re: New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Remov Yes, performed OCLT to verify SLAM done. Didn't do full panel of testing this morning, just FC and CC: FC: 38.5 (it was 38.5 at sunset yesterday also = OCLT of ZERO!!!) CC: 0.5 Water is clear. Results from other tests are from...

New Pool Owner - Finished SLAM, Now on to Stain ID/Removal

Re: New Pool Owner - Rapid Chlorine Loss - now with PICTURES Finally finished the SLAM  Should I start a new thread to address how to clear up the staining or keep this thread or my SLAM thread going?

First SLAM - finished at last!

Re: First SLAM - persevering... I'm not particularly concerned with "safe to swim" levels. With the water temps the way they are I don't foresee us swimming any time soon!! The reason I asked is because my husband thought we'd be slamming for a while longer and bought 12 gallons of 10%...

Re: First SLAM - persevering... How long is it likely to take for FC to drop down to 10?

First SLAM - finished at last!

Re: First SLAM - persevering... We bought this house in mid October. I do not know what previous owners were regularly using for chlorination. The only clues are that they left behind a duck-shaped float for pucks, and one crate of empty 12.5% bleach bottles. Haven't tested tap water...

Re: First SLAM - persevering... Took a few pictures. The pool is still quite shady at this point in the morning but hopefully you get the idea. Here you go: Full pool from east Full pool from west (on top of the diving board :)) View of drain Two views of the black spot on bottom of...

Re: First SLAM - persevering... Went to take the picture and my camera battery died! Doh! Will recharge it and snap photo ASAP. :) Do you think raising the FC to 40 was a happy accident? I didn't mean to get it that high but it did seem to do the trick.

Re: First SLAM - persevering... Good news! Just tested the water: FC = 38.5! CC = 0.5! So.... what now?
