Please crunch my numbers for me.....then advice is needed.

DH just suggested that I use the Trouble Free Pool Calculator from my iPhone, and sure enough, it worked and gave me realistic numbers. I just needed good numbers from the Calculator! It says to add 40 oz of washing soda, which I will do over two days. Lana

Please crunch my numbers for me.....then advice is needed.

The Chemtrol is now recalibrated based on my test results. DH did the adjustments via internet from Illinois! I can't aerate because pool cover is on. Will use Washing Soda, which is what I have on hand, in small increments over a few days, testing every day. I regret not getting fresh...

Please crunch my numbers for me.....then advice is needed.

The CSI indicates corrosive and bad for plaster pools. I am looking for how much borax or washing soda or whatever else to add to get the water balance up above -0.64 I DO have washing soda in the house, so I am first of all looking for how much of that I can use to get my pool out of the...

TF-100 test kit and reagent life expectancy.

Call Taylor! Hello All~~ Once a year I call Taylor, speak with a human being there, and we check through the lot numbers on all of my reagents. She tells me whether they are "Fresh" or "Usable". (I have never had one so old that it got a lesser evaluation.) Call them! Lana

I am now a water snob

I too have severe sparklypoolitis. This year, I feel very conflicted going to my water aerobics class at my health club because the usually sparkly pool has been cloudy for the past month. I get blank stares from the staff when I bring it up. Lana

    Need to Shake

Do Not Shake Do not shake reagents. Shaking introduces air bubbles into solution. The testing depends on counting the number of drops of a reagent. If you have shaken yours, and if you have introduced tiny air bubbles into solution, you will skew your test results. Lana

    Plaster color?

To the OP~ Who is doing your replastering? Can you go and see other pools in your area that they have done? I am very much in favor of a light-colored pool, especially if the pool has a deep end. My pool is essentially a very pale blue, and I am glad for its lightness. It is very, very easy...

    Reagents

Call Taylor on the phone Hello All~ Once maybe twice a year I call Taylor and spend a few minutes on the phone with one of the reps checking through my reagents and their lot numbers to find out if my reagents are "Fresh", "Usable", or ought to be tossed. Easy. I keep my reagents in the...

Throwing K-2006 test water back into the pool.

Hello all~~ I test year round. I take the sample from a sampling station on the equipment pad. All the testing gets done inside in the brightly lighted white kitchen, which gives me the same conditions day or night, sunny or raining.... The remains go down the drain with water running to...

    Borates - Refreshing Qty Question

Dear Huston, Once again, you will have to decide whether you are going to continue to use your pool store for testing and all guidance on the care of your pool/water/balance, OR whether you yourself are going to take control of caring for your pool. If you decide to do it yourself, you will...

New fiberglass pool is full of cracks... HELP!

Wow Bill---what an excellent story and standard to live by. I have bookmarked it, and will refer back to it often, I'm sure. (I love your "Electron Mover" name) To the OP, the decisions you make may someday affect the resale value of your home. It's not just a summer of swimming on the line...

    Borates - Refreshing Qty Question

Do I remember correctly that the OP can more accurately test his CYA if he takes a pool water sample, dilutes it by half with tap water or distilled water (no CYA present) and then retests, multiplying the result by 2? Just a suggestion since there has to be such a huge drain and fill. Lana
