    Heater Won't Fire

I have a Pentair MasterTemp 400 heater for my spa. Recently the heater will not fire when the eater temperature falls below the set temperature. I rebooted the system & the blower came on, but again the heater would not fire. There were no error codes on the heater's display; only the...

    Calcium Chloride Question

I have been using Chlorox Calcium Increaser. Is this product calcium chloride or calcium chloride dihydrate? I cannot find any indication on the packaging. Thank you.

    CH Drifting Upward

ajw22: Sorry for the response relay. Yes, I have an autofill. Since my SWCG has been disconnected for several months during the winter season, I have not been checking my salt level. I've just been adding chlorine bleach as needed. However, I checked my CYA level today & it was below 20. I...

    CH Drifting Upward

The CH in my in-ground gunnite spa has been relatively stable over the years. However, in the past few months I noticed that the reading drops from 300ppm to 250ppm weekly. All the other chemistry levels are fine. What might be causing this? I have been purchasing Calcium Hardness Increaser by...

    Heater Won't Fire

The flame igniter in my Pentair MasterTemp 400 heater has an ohm reading of 95 ohms. According to Pentair tech support, the acceptable range is 40-75 ohms at room temperature. My question is this: Since the 95 ohm reading was taken when the air temperature was about 45F, at room temperature...

    Heater Won't Fire

NG. Unfortunately, I can't get the blower to come on.

    Heater Won't Fire

From what I gather, the ohms should be 40-80 ohms at room temperature. The 95 ohm reading I got was at ambient temperature of about 45F. I don't know if that would make a difference. And if so, would the cooler temps cause the ohm reading to decrease or increase? i just hate to end up replacing...

    Heater Won't Fire

Thank you for the links. I did test the resistance across the flame sensor. It showed 95 ohms. I don't know if this is a problem since the article indicated an ideal reading of 50 ohms. If need be, I can probably remove & inspect the flame sensor if necessary. However, testing the flame sense...

    Heater Won't Fire

I opened the Fenwal box (see below) & all connections looked clean & secure. I tested the fuse & it was fine. However, while the blower was running, the light in the box blinked a sequence of 3 several times. I thought that I had read on this forum that it might be an indication of a bad...

    Heater Won't Fire

Thank you, Allen. Will do. In fact I read a post on this forum having the same problem. Actually, I am getting on it right now.

    Heater Won't Fire

When I replaced the thermal regulator, I looked into the hole & it appeared that the bypass valve was in place. I will confirm this again more carefully. Since the heater blower will run for about 30 seconds but the heater doesn't fire, it seems like the igniter could be faulty. I will check to...

    Heater Won't Fire

Several days ago I discovered that my Pentair MasterTemp 400 heater shut off before reaching the set temperature. This was the case in both the general filtration mode & the spa mode. Having had this issue before, I discovered that the thermal regulator was corroded & would not open. So I...

Pentair Thermal Regulator: Genuine Pentair Part?

I will pick up a genuine thermal regulator from a trusted independent pool parts supplier today. Arguably, I could buy 3-4 of the cheap knockoffs for the price of 1 genuine regulator. But sacrificing the reliability of my spa is certainly not worth it. Thank you for your input.

Pentair Thermal Regulator: Genuine Pentair Part?

That confirms my suspicion. Thank you.
