    What's your current pool temp?

Pool got as warm as 82 just with sun and a solar blanket, now down to 77 last I checked. Couple of cool days with several inches of rain forecast by Saturday evening and we'll probably be down to 75 or cooler. Get together here on Sunday with a forecast high of only 68 and windy, but sunny so...

    Sand Surprise!

That's huge! I only know my sand filter, and the water is crystal clear. I can't see there would be any way it can be clearer than it is now.

    It figures...

25°F recorded at the airport here last night. 30°F according to my cheap backyard weather station. High was 52°F at the airport yesterday. Real nice pool weather. Environment Canada says the weather should warm up later next week. I've heard that before. It's got to warm up sooner or...

    What's your current pool temp?

70, but with a frost warning tonight, and a forecast high of 59 for Saturday we won't even think about turning up the heater. Been shocking the pool anyways. Water got a little cloudy after the swimming last Sunday, and the CC levels started to rise. I obviously wasn't raising the FC level...

    What's your current pool temp?

First swim of the year in sparkling 75°F water. 1 to 2 inches of rain forecast for tomorrow. Pool needs a top up anyways after backwashing the filter this afternoon and the nieces, nephew and dog splashing a lot of water out. Sunshine forecast for Wednesday on so I imagine we'll be back in the...

    What's your current pool temp?

    60. Tempted to run the heater overnight and go for a first dip of the year tomorrow with a forecast high of 70 (been a real crumby spring here), although Monday is only supposed to be 52 with rain so I feel that heat would be quite wasted. Here's hoping for warmer weather next weekend!

    BBB Supplies - Canada

Thanks. I didn't think about the CH increase.

    BBB Supplies - Canada

Wal-Mart for bleach for sure. No Name bleach can be priced good too (Real Canadian Superstore here - probably Loblaws out your way?). I'm actually going to shop for the best price on a 30kg pail of cal-hypo this weekend. That will last the whole summer so no running off to find bleach (yep, the...

    sudden psi drop on gauge

When my pressure drops it usually means some debris (grass etc.) stuck at the impeller and I have to reach in and pull it out with my fingers. I'd love to find a way to keep stuff from getting past the hair strainer basket. Seems to be a poor design on the Sta-Rite pumps.

    What's your current pool temp?

    50. Weather hasn't been warm enough to even think about warming it up with the heater. Maybe next weekend. Getting the heater properly serviced this week before it goes off warranty.

Easier way to get the ick out, easier way to vacuum?

I use a leaf rake (has a deep net and is designed to funnel leaves etc. into it). A LeafMaster works better yet (uses the pressure from a garden hose).

    Time To Renovate the Pool

Interesting idea, but it would leave me with a much smaller pool. I'm willing to be I can get another year or 2 out of this pool by patching the liner as needed. I've already talked to the neighbour about the water that pools up next to the pool off his garage and we'll have a solution to that...

Post Pics of your Repo Rehab

OK, that is similar to mine then, except we go to the smaller diameter tubing at the bottom of the stairs. We usually keep a bucket next to the slide to wet it down. Not really enough flow to keep the whole slide wet.

    Time To Renovate the Pool

When the time comes of course. I'm still torn though. I really want to find a way to rescue the pool. But the estimated $45,000 price tag is way out of reach. Probably get second and third opinions on options. In my head it seems there should be something else to do. Half of me thinks I should...

    Time To Renovate the Pool

Nah, this is beyond me. I think we'll patch as best we can and get a summer out of this pool, then fill it in and replace it in the spring with an above ground pool. My pump, filter and heater are all good, and it will give me and excuse to get a deck built too.
