I'm going to use these. General rule the red insulated electrical terminal may be used in sizes from 22 to 18 gauge, blue for wires from 16 to 14 gauge, yellow for wires from 12 to 10 gauge, and so on.

The gauge of the copper wire itself is 18. It was larger than 20, but smaller than 16. 18 was perfect.
