Whew! Finally made it. 25 gallons of 12% liquid chlorine and I’m at shock level. Took 3 days. Will perform the OCLT tonight Thanks again to everyone for their help!

Excellent points and thank you for raising them. I’ll continue the chlorine additions to achieve shock levels until CC is reduced. I always appreciate the education from experienced people so many thanks for the help!

According to the Pool Math App, it’s as I stated, Shock Level and Maintain. I hate to be picky but, see my screenshot of the app. while I agree to an extent that the buffer should help retain the chlorine, common advice that I’ve read here states to shock at night, which implies to me, and is...

Yes, I realize it’s not a one time. It’s Shock Level (20 based on my CYA) and Maintain (at 7ppm), based on my current numbers. So I’m shocking to reduce CC and maintaining at 7, once I’ve reduced. Shocking is done at night, as I will this evening. I feel like I’m missing something based on your...

Yes, I did a slam last night to raise FC, which it did but CC is still present and too hi. I will continue to slam tonight after sunset to lower CC and increase FC to shock level (20 per chart)

I think so. I have 3 gallons of 12%. Tto SLAM to 20 should take 1.3 gal. That leaves me 1.5 gal to maintain and the Menards near me had an abundance of liquid chlorine. Walmart also has a decent amount of 6% bleach on hand. Very fortunate over here. I picked up 4# of Borax yesterday and there...

OK! I got my Taylor kit the other day. Below are my new, accurate numbers. Wow those test strips really are not accurate. I’ve done some remediation since my original posts and, thanks to all the great info here I’m in pretty good shape. Still got some work to do but not terrible. Pool opened...

Sandy feeling substance on sun shelf?

This is coming from a total noob but, I see in the second picture that you have brick pavers. Could the rain have washed some of that sand on to the shelf?
