Is anyone else having trouble finding 31.45% muriatic acid?

Thanks for the reply. According to the SDS sheet for your 2nd link, it's actually 10%-30% MYA with the exact amount "withheld as a trade secret," so not really 31.45%. I think we can assume it's closer to 10% than 30%.

Is anyone else having trouble finding 31.45% muriatic acid?

I live in southern CA, and a couple months ago I had to drive to a nearby town to get 31.45% muriatic acid when my local Ace Hardware store was out of stock. I thought there was maybe a a temporary COVID-related supply shortage like with everything else these days. Now I need to purchase some...

Pebbles not exposed in pebble tec

Most pool builders probably subcontract the pebble installation, and I'd be very surprised if that subcontractor isn't an authorized pebble tec installer. I don't know if they could even get the materials otherwise. It would probably be worth it to contact PebbleTec and see if they can advise on...

New Dolphin, side jet stopped working on 2nd use

Your last post made me wonder if perhaps my Warrior SE has been defective this whole time. It rarely climbs walls to the top, and I'd never seen it move horizontally along the tile. I assumed this was because have a rough pebble surface and I normally use the fine particle filters. I also tend...

Plumbing question about the Pool Returns

Sure, I can understand why someone might want to have the ability to shut off their spillover, and as you mentioned, it's easy to modify the plumbing. But in the couple of other new pool builds I've seen in my area, the "forced spillover" seems to be standard. This setup still allows you divert...

    Swimming in non-TFP pools

While I try to keep my own pool perfectly maintained, I will swim in pretty much anything. But I also race the dogs to get my share of food that has fallen on the floor, so there's that. I particularly enjoy telling neighbors that I do my own pool maintenance. They never ask how they can do it...

Pebbles not exposed in pebble tec

Please let us know how it goes, and maybe reach out to PebbleTec if your installer doesn't make it right. Others on here have said that they're quite responsive. I have a pebble finish but I won't use them again or recommend them if they don't stand behind their installers' work.

Plumbing question about the Pool Returns

Maybe it's not as much of an issue for me because I have a really wide spillway. It barely aerates even at max pump speed. You could change the plumbing as others have suggested, but I would seriously consider leaving it as is. If you ever inadvertently forget to circulate your spa for too long...

Plumbing question about the Pool Returns

I'll be the voice of dissent here. Not only did your PB do an absolutely beautiful job with your setup, but he is arguably correct in not plumbing the pool the way you want. Mine is plumbed the same way, so that water is also returned to the spa while in pool mode. This maintains the spa water...

New Dolphin, side jet stopped working on 2nd use

Are you sure it won't cover the whole pool if you leave it long enough? I don't think I've ever seen my Warrior SE make a sharp turn. The turns are so gradual that it almost looks as if it's being directed by the pool contour alone. I watched it this morning and confirmed that it only appeared...

solar prefers SLOWER flow rate and electric heat pump requires FAST flow rate? How will this work?

The max flow rate depends on the manufacturer. I don't recall mine offhand but it's quite high, and it's specified as a burst pressure. My 3HP Intellifo VSF pump could not even reach the high end of nominal, let alone max. For reference, I have pretty much perfect solar conditions (single story...

    Surface Cracks in Plaster

These sound like calcium nodules. I have a few of them too, but in my case they manifest as small dark blue stains. I don't think you need to worry about them, especially if they're not particularly unsightly.

solar prefers SLOWER flow rate and electric heat pump requires FAST flow rate? How will this work?

We have an array of 9 Uma Sunstar panels. It's similar to what Fafco makes. Each 50 sq. ft panel requires 5-7gpm nominal flow rate, which is 45-63gpm total. A rough rule of thumb is to have your solar array the same size as your pool surface area. However, I don't think there's a reason to run...

Major PebbleTec Issues for Over a Year - HELP!

Please take a look at the TFP calcium nodules thread. The pictures you show don't look like calcium nodules, but the fact that the stains keep re-appearing in the same spots suggest that maybe the root cause is the same, where efflorescence in the concrete shell is causing small cracks due to...

Installing SWG and new pool panel

You may have already considered it, but an automation setup like the Pentair Intellicenter and ScreenLogic2 may be worthwhile. There may be some people who can set it and forget it, but I'm not one of them. I tend to adjust my SWG output a few times a week depending on current FC levels, cloud...
