The best I’ve been able to find is a 40lb box from Tractor Supply for $50 ($1.25/lb). Anyone able to find a cheaper calcium source?
I lose about 1/3 of everything (calcium, cya, salt) each year assuming from rain overflow drain and splash out
The other post is mine. I’m going to say I don’t think it’s pH related since I’m on the other end of the spectrum. With my SWG, I struggle to keep it below 8 (it’s usually around 7.8-8; sometimes creeps to 8.2 and I try to bring it back to 7.6-7.8).
One similarity I have to the OP is build...
I’m assuming the white build up along grout lines near my spill over is efflorescence. Any recommendation on cleaning, maintenance, and if I need to seal my spillover stone and grout? Pool built last July.
update: I just looked at weather underground and think we may have had 9” of rain here over the past month which might explain it. I have a moderately shallow rectangular pool with large tanning ledge and spa. 9” would be about 6k gallons 😮
My CYA and CH have dropped over the past month.
CYA 50 -> 30
CH 275 -> 200
Any ideas why? 20k gallon pool. We have had a bit of rain here in Atlanta and I have an overflow drain at water line. I rarely need to add water from hose. Doesn’t feel like any more than the 1/4” loss to evaporation...
Thanks everyone for the quick replies. From what I’m gathering running on the low side is totally fine, just need to watch for alerts if it dips too low (I do loose a little over time from the overflow drain I believe and my screenlogic reports about 200 ppm less than Taylor)
I’m curious what the outcome would be of running your SWG with salt in the lower range of operational?
I recently got the Taylor k-1766 and know I now have 3200 ppm, but likely ran with 2800 ppm or possibly less for a bit. Should I expect any difference in chlorine output?
I know if it dips...
Something just crossed my mind. My equipment is above water line. I have a very small pressure side leak at my pump that causes me to lose prime when pump is off for hours. At that point the water level in the filter would be low. Could an empty filter tank cause the rubber to deteriorate? How...
I doubt this would have anything to do with it, but we had some runoff issues early on with mulch and mud in the pool that took days to clear out.
Pleatco the recommended filters?
The pebble finish was applied and a couple days later they acid washed to remove excessive plaster and expose the pebble. Immediately started filling the pool, scrubbing walls daily with pump running 24/7 for awhile.
Pump to top inlet on filter. Bottom goes out to heater.
I have a variable speed pump that I run pretty low and pressure stays very low.
Generally a bit high
Thanks for quick responses. I’ve had high pH since I started testing myself 7 months ago, often 8.0+ needing muriatic acid about once a week while swg was running. I added 12oz of acid yesterday and just tested 7.6-7.7. I mix the muriatic acid with pool water in bucket, then pour in on opposite...
The blue end caps of my pentair cartridge filters are deteriorating. When cleaning them today, I noticed the rubber is very brittle as well. Pool and filters are 8 months old. Salt water. Is this normal?
