Why is SeaKlear clarifier blue, and where does it go?

SeaKlear 'Natural' clarifier is sometimes mentioned in these forums, perhaps as one of the least-worst of the undesirables. It's a chitosan clarifier, and it's blue. I asked SeaKlear why it's blue, and is the dye (I assume that chitosan is colourless) biodegradable. They replied that the dye is...

How to remove protective cover from pool light

We have a pool light some 9 to 12" below the water level. I think it is a Certikin PU6. It was fitted in 2008 so it the old sealed beam type. It has a protective cover behind which lurks some ugly algae. The cover is a loose fit and will spin round but be blowed if I can see a way of removing...

    Scale removal on liner

Thanks for all the advice, I think I will put the Lo-Chlor to one side, and try the low ph first.

    Scale removal on liner

For reasons we won't go into our pool has been neglected for two years. One of the ensuing problems is that is has scale, presumably calcium scale, on the liner. The (spring) water here is very hard. At first I was encouraged as some of the scale is quite soft and can be brushed away with some...

    Pool Telescopic Dome Enclosure

Hi, I'm UK too and I have a low level Abrisud dome cover, not telescopic but a dome nevertheless. We bought it second-hand about ten years ago. It is approx 12 mtrs by 5 mtrs by about 80 cm high. We chose a low profile as we wanted the view of the garden to be as unobstructed as possible...

    Pump peculiarities with the electrics

Yes, 50 hz. I'm not sure about accessing the shaft from the rear.

    Pump peculiarities with the electrics

If I had a genuine 0.33 hp pump it would deliver about 2 cu mtrs hr less at the same head. That would reduce the flow rate by 33 litres a minute which is a little better (don't blame me for using metric, you guys are still on the Queen Anne Wine Gallon of 1707, which is really confusing). The...

    Pump peculiarities with the electrics

If volt-amps are amps times voltage, then I am seeing about 2.9 amps, times 230 comes to 667. Label amps are 2.5 on the 0.33 hp, 2.9 on the 0.5 hp. The pump is on the limit.

    Pump peculiarities with the electrics

Hi James, Sorry, yes, I have a manual buit it is quite basic. What were you looking for? The voltage is 230 on both the pump and supply.. I'll have to read your post in deatail, most of it is over my head. Yes, I have pics but all attempts to attach or include fail for some reason. I'll try...

    Pump peculiarities with the electrics

This is a great help, I'm beginning to see some sort of light. I can't dismantle the pump as it is only a few weeks old and under guarantee. I'll try to get some info from the suppiers but I fear that all their '0.33' hp HPS pumps may be the same spec. I may have to return it and try to source a...
