    Maytronics Prowler 920 Weekly Timer

Thanks for that. I wasn’t sure if it did only run a week. We had a really gnarly sand storm out here near Palm Springs, and pools everywhere are trashed.

    Maytronics Prowler 920 Weekly Timer

Hi All, I'm trying to figure out if the Prowler 920 (*Same as Dolphin Active 20/S200) controller maintains its weekly timer past one week of work? It's selected to run its cleaning cycle every 3rd day. It's a new unit and at a house I only check on every other week or so. I can't seem to tell...

Teledyne Lars Series 2 Heater no ignition

Ok, got the breaker to flip and now have power at the heater (voltage tester gets 24v at transformer). Still no light. Next step is replacing the Honeywell ignition controller. Ideas?

    Stripped PVC Threads Auto-Fill

If memory serves, I actually found it on a simple web search from a company such as PVC Fittings Online. It’s a very compact part. HD/Lowes didn’t have it, but for pool fixes Amazon often had 3rd party sellers of non-standard PVC parts. Are you fixing the same thing as I tried to?

Teledyne Lars Series 2 Heater no ignition

I took a no-contact voltage tester and got no reading. It’s supposed to sense 10v min-1000v, so it’s strange I didn’t get any reading, even the 220v. It’s not my house, so I didn’t know where the pool equipment breakers are. Now that I do, and I’m hoping to take a look next visit, along with...

Teledyne Lars Series 2 Heater no ignition

I bypassed the safeties and still no spark, so I haven’t individually tested them. Pilot ignition looks fine. No spark passed the gap when I removed the wire. That’s what’s leading more conclusively to ignition module—and yes it could also be gas valve still. Is the Honeywell S8610U the best...

Teledyne Lars Series 2 Heater no ignition

I hear ya Matt. I’ve been in this scenario with 2 other heaters now. My feeling is if it’s a failed exchanger, then ya, it’s a new unit. These units are so bulletproof, and solid-state and thus more repairable than the new units. If I can get it working, for a reasonable amount, then I feel it...

Teledyne Lars Series 2 Heater no ignition

My parents have a 1994 Teledyne Lars Series 2 Heater that’s been in hibernation since COVID struck. Model is ESC250N. It was working 2 years ago, but now when the thermostat (potentiometers) move, I do hear a ‘click’ that it’s recognized temperature, but nothing else and it’s not igniting. My...

Let the fun begin in La Quinta

Wish I still had that pool, my old posts may have pics of the Caribbean Blue Stonescapes. I loved the water color it made!

    Pentair ScreenLogic Alexa Skill GONE

Any update on this—my Alexa skill is gone. Haven’t used it in months but what’s up? Did Pentair remove the skill from Alexa?

Simple solution to fix a pool heater ground problem

That’s a good tip. I’ve had to do similar as ground locations have rusted. A sheet metal screw with bare threaded wire wrapped around (drilled into sheet metal) may help to get it anchored better.

    Hayward Heater Gusher

I'm going to give the home warranty a try. It has the rider for this type of coverage and the fine print does allow up to and including replacement. This weekend I'll put the thing back together. I actually have pictures and even video of the leak that I guess I could show them? It's a $75...

    Hayward Heater Gusher

Well the drama continues. I realized that with the new home, I have a home warranty with a rider for the pool/spa equipment where they will diagnose, analyze and repair/replace pool heater up to $3,000. I’ve already bypassed the heater. I took the exchanger out, but it’s no big deal to put it...

    Pool heater repair

You were spot on, the size and shape of the non-OEM oring was off. What an awful piece of kit. The OEM bypass kit has the correct gasket. It has an oval shape, meaning the circumference of the actual gasket material is like a flat oval shape. Anyways, it’s all getting returned since I’m...
