Intex Filter- Sand Blowing Into Pool

Where did you buy the sand? Did you use the cover over the stand pipe in the center of the filter to prevent sand from getting inside the pipe? What I've done when replacing sand is Filled the filter to the level indicated on the stand pipe. Before installing the valve on top, I used a garden...

    Is this sand ok?

In my situation, it is exactly opposite. I cleaned the play sand, thoroughly. None passed through the laterals. The "pool filter sand" did pass through the lateral. In my situation, using a blend of both types worked perfectly. I have not had any issues at all. Rinsing thoroughly after a...

    Is this sand ok?

Nope. Not at all anymore. The first 3 bags I put in this year were marked pool filter sand. It was too fine and blew right through the lateral and into the pool. Vac to waste and it was in the yard. Refilled filter with play sand and the fine sand blended, fine sand on top. Deep washed the sand...

    Is this sand ok?

I looked for the HTH. Couldn't find any. I'm currently running a blend of both sands with the finer sand on top. I could fill a black sock with the fine sand when I held the sock over the return.

    Is this sand ok?

Yeah I thought so as well. I discard the old sand on my property. The problem sand is like fine beach sand. It slipped right through the laterals. I haven't had ANY pool issues since adding the play sand.

    Is this sand ok?

I used a similar sand this year at opening and had all kinds of filtering issues. I read the fine print on the back and it was to be used "WITH" silica sand. Running the filter basically pumped 20 lbs of sand into my pool over time. Took me forever to clear it up. I bought plain old $1.99/ bag...

    Dumb question

You can leave it plugged in either way.

    Dumb question

Get a big enough Rubbermaid bowl and cut openings big enough to lay the wire through. Enclose the gfi inside the container. It will do enough to keep the plug dry.

    Dumb question

You can leave it plugged in and press the TEST button. That cuts power to the pump. When you want the pump to run, press the RESET button to turn the pump back on. Are you using an extension cord with the pump?

    Dumb question

Leave it connected to the pool. Unplug it if there is no timer on the pump. Doesn't the pump have the GFI with a yellow and red button on it? Should say TEST and RESET.
