Extreme freezing temps. What do I do?

I live near Dallas, and we are experiencing historic cold right now. Hindsight tells me I should have probably winterized the pool, but I didn't (partly because I don't really know what that means). I thought everything would be ok as long as the pumps keep running. The pool temp is currently...

Nevermind. Looks like that was just answered. Thanks Joyfulnoise!

    ORP system help needed.

What is the difference between LSI and CSI? I plugged my numbers in both calculators, and they came out almost exactly the same. fc - 1.5 ph - 7.8 ta - 70 temp - 55 calc - 340 CYA - 20 tds - 800 CSI = -0.03 LSI = -0.02

    ORP system help needed.

I actually don't use Orenda pool care products, and I have no benefit in trying to sell their method. It seems to work at least for my case. It's arguable which method is simpler (TFP vs Orenda). I guess it just comes down to which one you are comfortable with. I personally think neither...

You will also note that this article also references Richard Falk and a paper he wrote (look at the end of the article for a link to his paper).

    ORP system help needed.

What you say is certainly conventional/traditional wisdom, but there are compelling arguments against maintaining higher CYA. I am sure there is data for both sides, but this article is interesting. https://blog.orendatech.com/minimal-cya-pillar-4 I have talked on the phone at length with the...

    ORP system help needed.

No, I didn't try to measure it in my old salt pool. The high CYA is likely the reason why you aren't getting a good ORP value. From what I have read/experienced, there is very little benefit to having much over 20-30 ppm CYA. Above that, the sun protection benefit only increases marginally...

    ORP system help needed.

I am using a 15 gallon liquid feeder (with 12% liquid chlorine). During peak swim season, I refill it every 4-6 weeks. I am not exactly sure what you mean by availability. If you mean store availability, I have a local pool store that refills the containers I have at a good price.

    ORP system help needed.

I keep my CYA around 20, and the chlorine stays between 1-2. This has proven to be sufficient to protect the chlorine even during the dog days of summer.

    ORP system help needed.

It started out very shaky for the first few months until we figured out that the ORP sensor that came with the system was bad. Once that was replaced, the system has been working flawlessly. Up to this point, it is what I expected and hoped for. My pool is very low maintenance compared to the...

    Cost to install chiller

Hello, I am looking to get a glacier chiller installed. I already have an electrical hookup and the necessary 3x3 space on the equipment pad. What is a reasonable cost for installation only? Thanks, Jason.

    Pebble tec install issue?

Hello, My new pool was plastered and filled back in December. Per the instructions, I brushed it thoroughly 2x per day for the first week. I immediately noticed some spots/stains, but the builder said it would probably go away after a while. Not only did they not go away, more...

Filling a 15 gallon chlorine tank

Thanks for the suggestions. I am not sure why I didn't think of siphoning it. I will have to see if I can find a way to easily elevate the container above the tank.

Filling a 15 gallon chlorine tank

I have an automatic liquid chlorine feeder with a 15 gallon rola-chem tank . I found a local pool store (pinchapenny) that sells 2.5 gallon containers of LC. I bought one yesterday to give it a try. I found that my tank is awkward to fill because of the built in mount for the pump (see...
